    I am so torn!

On one hand I am very happy that the Cowboys won but on the other I gotta wonder why couldn't they do this the past two weeks? Why did it have to kill the Saints perfect season?

I thought for sure this was a gonna lose for the 'boys. Then I turned on the game with 4 seconds left in the 3rd quarter and just about pooped a brick! They almost lost it but that Cowboys defense shut down the Saints for more than 3 quarters.

I'm not going to say this changes anything for either team. The Cowboys are still sucking more air than a Hoover and the Saints are, IMO one of the top 3 teams in the NFC.

Man, wish I had watched the whole thing. From what I saw that was a spectacular game.

On and Nick Folk needs to go. Cut the dude already and get someone who can kick in there. There is absolutely no excuse for missing a 24 yard field goal. Especially one that would have clinched the game win for you team with just over 3 minutes left in the game.

The Saints have been barely winning for several games now. I was wondering when they would run out of time and luck. Still a good team though. The NFL is tough to go 16-0.

Umm... Nick Folk was found trying to hang himself in a closet at the Superdome.

Only problem was he couldn't manage to kick the chair out from under himself.

So did you choose not to watch the first part of the game because you thought the outcome wouldn't be to your liking, or were you otherwise tied up?

I'm asking because I just had a very similar conversation with a couple guys at work. I don't understand how someone couldn't watch a game just because they thought their team would lose - hell that's what makes the games fun to watch! However, based on the conversation here, I am in the minority there - half the people here didn't even watch the game because they thought the boys were gonna get blown out.

And before you go pissing and moaning, I was listening to the game until about 4 minutes before halftime. Then I had to go shovel some snow to get my GF's car out so she could go to work. When I came back I remembered that Game Day would have video feeds of big plays. So I was watching the game that way from the end of the 3rd quarter on.

Why would I go pissing and moaning? My question was civil and, anticipating your response, I even explained why I was asking the question. I figured you may take my question the wrong way, so decided to explain it further, even attempted to difuse any potential negative energy by explaining that I was in the minority here (translated: I may be the one who's wrong).

Yet, even with all that, you still manage to get a negative spin out of it, very nice.

Oh, and I hadn't seen your other thread before posting, as you yourself mentioned there are already multiple threads out there, had not seen yours.

Don't give me a martyr act. Your first statement of your first post was accusatory in its passive aggressiveness.

You stated: "So did you choose not to watch the first part of the game because you thought the outcome wouldn't be to your liking, or were you otherwise tied up?"

Which, all at once, shows contempt for Dallas fans in general and indirectly contempt towards me, being a Dallas fan. You chide me for not watching the whole game in an assumption that I wouldn't like the outcome and essentially pass judgment on me because of your own displeasure at the outcome of the game and probably as well as your dislike for me.

I didn't put any negative spin on anything. You came at me with a negative attitude. All I did was state "before you piss and moan" and I was obviously correct in my predictions because that's what you are doing now. But also because I knew, given the tone of your original statement, that my statements in the other thread would make a big hub bub. Mainly because someone, if not you, would say that I contradicted myself.

But see, I do not live anywhere near Dallas or New Orleans, so the only way I can see my favorite team is to either pray than they hit a network or I listen to the game online or on ESPN radio if they are broadcasting it because I do not have the NFL Network or NFL Sunday Ticket. I would think that those who wish to portray themselves as of above average intelligence would have put two and two together and realized that was my reason for not seeing the game. But clearly I was going to have to defend my statements yet again because someone wants to pick a bone with me.

Here's an idea. If you don't want caustic negative responses, don't come at me with caustic, backhanded negative questions.

But not better than Peopleofwalmart dot com.

I was expecting to get some type of negative feedback about the really bad joke I put. Apparently it was bad enough that no one knows how to respond or everyone is blocking me and didn't see it in the first place.

Jstas and Assimilated are just trying to re-enact the scene from the Cowboys locker room from a year ago while TO was still there, but changed up the context so that we could relate better. Pretty soon, Patrick is going to ban Jstas and late next summer he is going to show up on the Bose forums stating how great they are and how they are they are going to dominate the market from now on since he is now endorsing them. They are sure to take home top honors at all the trade shows for speaker design and sound quality with him supporting them.

At least that was the rumor that I heard.

Sure, maybe it could be taken that way if you only read the first line, you gotta read the whole thing, in context.

How is that at all directed at Dallas fans? Me thinks you're reading WAY too much into that statement, especially again given the follow up paragraph.

As for the last part of the quote, I've stated in another thread (long before this post was created) that I was actually ROOTING for the Cowboys, so that point is rendered moot. Although I generally do not root for the Cowboys, I was rooting for them in this instance. By the way, I do realize that you may have missed that other thread, but since you originally expected me to know what you said in another thread I figured I'd show you the same expectations.
I didn't put any negative spin on anything. You came at me with a negative attitude. All I did was state "before you piss and moan" and I was obviously correct in my predictions because that's what you are doing now.
I don't see it that way, and neither would most other people. Again, I went out of my way in my first post here to NOT put a negative spin on it, you're the one who brought the tension to the conversation.
But also because I knew, given the tone of your original statement, that my statements in the other thread would make a big hub bub. Mainly because someone, if not you, would say that I contradicted myself.
I don't understand what you're getting at here, I had not read that other thread as of my first posting, because it wasn't on the main page. I actually still haven't read it, but never accused you of contradicting yourself so I don't see where that's relevant.
I initially had that thought, knowing that not everyone has access to NFL Network to watch the game and I know you're a Jersey guy. But your statement of "Then I turned on the game with 4 seconds left in the 3rd quarter" led me to believe that obviously you had the means to watch the game, thereby ruling out the notion that you didn't.
Here's an idea. If you don't want caustic negative responses, don't come at me with caustic, backhanded negative questions.
You and I always end up going through this, you'd think at some point that I would realize how sensitive you are, but for some reason that aspect always eludes me when I'm posting.

EDIT: Sensitive isn't really the word I'm looking for, that implies an inherent weakness or possible un-masculine trait and that's not what I'm going for, can't think of the word I'm looking for off-hand, so don't take that too literally.

Again, it was a simple question intended to possibly initiate discussion around that topic. In addition to my coworkers mentioned, I know lots of people that won't watch a game if they truly believe that their team is gonna get blown out. Maybe I'm odd, but it's that possibility that makes it that much more fun to watch.

I'm open to criticism though, what do you other guys think? Did I come in here looking for a fight?

Not particularly. I can see how the more paranoid among us could see it as such, though. ;)

And in all fairness to the truth John and I have had our differences in the past, and on at least one of those occasions (possibly two depending on your point of view) I came at him a little sideways, but the last several times have started with what I felt were fairly innocuous statements from me similar to the one above.

Wow!! Its not everyday that polkateers get to to comment on a discourse between a guru and a master. Hope this is logical. As a neutral observer:

@ Assimilated : If I were John, I would have drawn the same inference from your post #6. I think you were aiming a lowish blow that landed and had its impact. However you have admitted that you and John have a history as also the fact that you have landed a few low blows on more than one occasion. I think your admission of the same is creditable and upright. If you admit to this then perhaps a little more tact would get better results.

I can empathise with John being sensitive, cause I'm pretty much the same way. Most times that has got me into more trouble than I care to remember. But at 46 I'm too old a dog to learn new tricks. Maybe you'll should have an offline talk and sort things out. These things are best sorted outside of the public domain.

    Just my 2 cents.
