Polk Speakers with Onkyo 807

I got the following set of speakers with my Onkyo 807 receiver -
Front : Monitor 60
Center : CS2
SW : PSW505
Rear : RM8

Ran the Audssey set up on Onkyo and the result is pretty good.

Couple of questions -
1. Aren't these speakers 8ohms? After the set up I only get option of 4 and 6.
2. In the speaker configuration section, I was seeing 40Hz for Front, Center and Surround. I manually changed it to 80Hz(THX).

Is there any basic tutorial which can give more details on "ohms" "Hz" etc?

Thanks in advance.

    WELCOME to Club Polk!

The default speaker settings on the Onkyo are for 6-8 ohm speakers that's why you're seeing the 6 ohm reading....it sets it for the lowest impedance in the range. But, generally, most AVRS are built to handle 6-8 ohm speakers. It's when you get to 4 ohms or below that they get into trouble and can't handle the loads..

So that's a legitimate reading nothing to worry about....and X is right. 80hz is the standard setting for THX. I'm not sure if the Audyssey auto adjusts for THX select or not...it doesn't sound like it does?

Sounds to me like you're good. What you might want to do is tweak the sub yourself...as that is usually OFF in any auto set up....You also need to toggle the phase switch back there from 0=180 and back a few times to see which has louder/tighter bass? And you may want to run the manual test tone to see how the sub 'really' sounds and adjust that as well. I assume that you have your sub gain volume on the unit somewhere around 12 o-clock--that's a recommended starting point. The rest can be adjusted through the Onkyo's controls?

Good Luck....if you have any more questions...there are a lot of people here that run Onkyos.
