12X4 Rectifier Tube Choice

I've seen a thread or two mentioning that the correct choice of rectifier tube can make a big difference in sound quality.

I'm really enjoying a vintage Dynaco PAS-3 preamp that just arrived with a strong matched quad of Telefunken 12AX7's (and I've just ordered a NOS Mullard Blackburn quad!).

The PAS-3 uses a Sylvania 12X4 rectifier tube.

MY QUESTION: Are there other (better) rectifier tube choice for this application?
