Well thanks to Jim Reeves for suppling the key parts which include a low rpm Gear drive motor, plater, and body. I have taken it apart, and did some measuring. The motor, friction wheel that will drive the platter:). This is a project that will end up pertty like My sda's:)(perty). Right now I have the original cover being used as the splash pan on top of the original body. I have a plastic welder that I used to weld it in place before I applied the sealer. I am going to build a wood case for it and veneer it. I may also make a hinged cover to keep it clean.
Thanks again Jim!
Ben

    I think what I am going to do is skip the fluid spray, and just use a spray bottle. I have some cleaning soulution. All I need to do is hook up a vac, and build a box.

    I have been real busy lately(good thing). I have the motor mounted, and a "splash shield" I just need to mount a suction tube, and build a base for it.

    I finally took a photo of the diy cleaner I made. I went the simple route with a hand held vacuum wand. $6 value village vacuum under the $20 TT platter with a $35 shark steamer and a hockey puck with weather striping to spin the record. I use the AT brush and soak it with the tergitol and brush the lp clean. Steam, vacuum, scrub with tergitol, vacuum, steam, vacuum. Sure cleans up records that I would have never played before. Recorded a Gregorian Chant lp that looked nasty and now it sounds quite good. Recording at 24/192 sounds great.

    That looks pretty cool Jeff. You are as anally crazy as me with the various steps you do.

    I particularly like that black thing on top of your turntable.;):D

    Thanks to you I have a wonderful tt rig. It wouldn't sound nearly as good as it does without the Clamp. I got it a long time ago. Thanks, Joe. I have covered the underside of the platter with butyl caulking to add mass. So that and the Clamp makes the record well dampened. Now back to the recording. No time for dusting. Just finished The Sun Story by Rhino records. Nice stuff.

    Hmmm butyl caulking, interesting. I use Sorbothane sheets to cover the entire underside of my plinth. I was afraid to use it on the bottom of my platter because I thought it might throw it out of round.

    I put a dynaMat type noise reducer on the under side of my TT no problems.

    The butyl is very sticky but it never hardens so you can change things if needed. Stops the platter from ringing like a bell. That and Joe's Clamp!

    Nice!!! Is the whole clamp made of delrin?

    The base, cap and collet bushing are 100% delrin. There are three different thickness shims that are also made of delrin. The collet is heavy brass. The spring is a rubber/sorbothane composite and there is a stainless steel pin inserted in the side at the bottom to hold the collet in place. I use and industrial grade silicone grease to lightly lubricate the cap and base left handed threads.

    There is a good picture of it here;

    Jeff does that in anyway affect the balance and true spin of the platter? I've been thinking of placing Dynamat Extreme on the underside of my platter but have refrained from doing so because I am afraid that if it's not perfectly round it will throw off the balance of the platter. My platter is 1 3/4" thick and is a delrin/aluminum composite with the delrin on top. It doesn't ring but I figure I can never use too much damping on it. I also have been thinking of using Sorbothane sheets in lieu of the Dynamat E because if there is a problem, I can just peal it off where with the Dynamat E it would be very difficult to remove plus there is a thin outer layer of heavy aluminum (I believe) used as the backing.

    Hi Joe,
    I cant say I notice any change in balance. But this denon uses a speed sensor on the outer rim of the platter so it is changing speed all the time. When I spin the platter it doesnt stop at the same place. Your platter is much more dense and I doubt I would add anything to it.

    Yep, I tend to agree with you.
