Klez has been around for a while. I would suggest avoiding it at all costs. It's pretty nasty. I just worked on a machine that had 663 files infected with it. Fortunately, SARC has a cleaning tool ( www.sarc.com ) for it. Also, it may prevent a virus scanner from being installed (like if you don't have one already), however, Trend Micro's PCCillin ( www.trend.com ) will scan for, and quarrantine viruses BEFORE it trys to install, thereby essentially ridding the machine of the virus that is preventing the scanner from being installed. Pretty cool.

The TrendMicro product is excellent. After Norton AntiVirus failed to detect the Nimda virus on one of our servers, we switched to the TrendMicro product and have never looked back. Have not had a virus since.

Wife has TrendMicro on her Sony VAIO laptop. I am very impressed with it. No virus has entered. Catches everything.

I've always had the scary theory that most viruses are written by the virus scan software manufacturers to stay in business. It amazes me how fast they come out with a "fix" to a newly discovered virus almost as soon as it is discovered. Makes you think that they have "inside information".

Wow jgido, I have seriously never looked at it that way before. Sometimes I am very niave in that sense, but when you think about it it could easily be that way.

Of course a lot of ex-hackers etc.....work for these companies now because they get paid a lot of money to crack these viruses.
