My little furry friend, Snowball a maltipoo dog.
One Anterior Cruciate Surgery: $$$$
One Patella Luxation: $$$$
Repairing his leg at the cost of my own: $$$$
My sleepless nights to watch over him: Never Forgotten
Payments to finish: Too many too much
To know that he will no longer suffer from the pain and have hopes he will
walk on all fours again: PRICELESS
This is my Christmas. I wish no one else has to do this.

I hear ya! couple years ago my dog got into the bathroom garbage and ate some of my wifes used "corks" along with some other undigestible items. why dogs find these to be tasty treats is beyond me. anyhow, we knew something was wrong with him cause he wouldn't eat. the vet xrayed him and said if they didn't operate immediataly he would die. they had to remove part of his intestines that the items were tangled in. poor guy, he's fine now but that surgery cost over 5k!panasonic th-50pz85u

Had to have TPLO implants put in both rear legs of our pupster to the tune of $3500. There was never a doubt and she runs around like a pup again.
That my friend is money well spent. -
This kind of stuff worries me. I guess I will just have to watch over my dog extra carefully from now on. I can't imagine being faced with deciding between a $5k bill or my dogs life.

Back in March, I was faced with that exact scenario...5,100 bucks for hip/femur repair....3,100 bucks for leg amputation...or 300 to put him down.
Pepper is laying here snoring with a full belly and 4 paws wiggling ( Must be dreaming of chasing a rabbit ). All of my dogs are in the house 24/7 except for supervised walks and bathroom duties outside...we dont have a clue how he broke the strongest bone in a dogs body ?
The only thing we could guess was where the footboard meets the mattress, leg falls in there and momentum carries him over. So now we cover that area with thick blankets. The other was the oak coffee table where 3 100+ pound dogs try to funnel around at light speed when the doorbell would ring or they heard something ....we removed the coffee table altogether.
Those were the only 2 possibilities we saw, and it bothers me to this day not knowing what really happened...so look for any possibilities that could hurt your dog and correct them. I thought mine were safe from broken bones in the house ( No cars or fences in there ) ...not true.
The money, its only dirty stinky inked up paper....my dogs are my babies. This coming from someone who hasnt worked for almost the last 3 years on LTD, about as far from rich as can be...so sure the 5,100 hurt like hell...but family comes first. The first rule of Fight Club is you don't talk about Fight Club -

I am so envious! I've only got 1 but I would take 50 if I had the spaceshadowofnight wrote: »...but family comes first.
