Checks made out directly to Githens during calendar year 2009 total $3,494 at this time. Probably a few more will roll in before the end of the year.

Checks made out to me that were deposited into the Githens Christmas account during calendar year 2009 total $3,110. Today I took Mad Madden with me to Githens, and handed them a check for $3,100.

That's just about $6,600 total.

Merry Christmas to all, especially those that make it possible for me to do this.

George sells vinyl to us here on the forum and another forum and gives all the profits to The Githens Center which is a school for challenged children in NJ. He also accepts donations on their behalf. So when you buy vinyl from George you are contributing to a very worth while charity

Way to go again George!! Should be at least one more donation if that vinyl from GD ever gets to you.

Nice! My vinyl is really starting to show its age!

I'm thinking a dark earthtone, and at least a 30 year warranty. I'd prefer seamless as well, plus some extra soffit finishings

---. Today I took Mad Madden with me to Githens, and handed them a check for $3,100........

I can testify-I was a witness :) -it was a worthwhile trip.
And they are putting that money to good use too- some of the things I saw included a new graded ramp at one of the exits (where there once was a steep grade ramp-making evacuations very difficult if not dangerous), nice sidewalks connecting everything together in the play-yard, and of course an awesome playground area with the soft rubber ground cover and complete with a wheelchair swing and all!!:cool:

They just happened to start a fire drill as we were leaving and we got to see them actually use the graded ramp to evacuate the children--good stuff.

Indeed Grandmaster G-you are a good soul-I'll bet none of that would have been possible without your generous efforts.

    Merry Christmas!!

Not too shabby, George et al. Happy holidays!

Probably about time for me and DaveMuell to sell each other something and then pay Githens for the goods :-)

That reminds me... don't you (GG) still owe us some photos...?

I know that George does a lot of 'charity' work and also that he can't read most of my posts...that's OK....

I also know that George is held in high esteem here, because of his knowledge, contributions and his work and that he likes the ignore feature a lot.

I've never used that particular function.

I also know that he and I are probably the exact same age or very close...which is quite odd because when I read George's posts I get the sense of a retired fellow of at least 65? And that his posts, even the light hearted one's, always feel so 'heavy'.

Since GG can't see me; would it be possible for one of you to tell us a bit more about George's work...what he does and how he got involved with it because from the little I know of it it seems like a great humanitarian enterprise...

And that for all that seeming "gruffness'' he's really a **** cat (nice guy) under it all!

And lastly, I would like to contribute some money to that effort on my return from China!

    Thanks...

Yes way out of line, since if you knew what was going on, you would know it is nothing to laugh about. And if the joke had nothing to do with "the cause, the op, or anyone else on this forum", then why even bother making it in the first place.

This thread simply wasn't the place for it. There is a time & place for everything, some just don't know how to choose the right time or place.

Globe, brighten up. I don't choose to see your responses, it is made possible by quotes.

Maybe you should ask ME if you didn't poke fun at the cause, the op, or anything else. I try to provide a sincere accounting of this endeavor, as well as a SINCERE end of year thank you to the people who make it possible.

I'm not sure it was the best place to exercise your right to be a funny kind of guy (a bozo), but it was the place you picked.

    Thank you Sister.
