Greetings,
The Holidays are suppose to be happy times filled with friends and family.
I always find myself with the "blues" this time of year. I cant explain the whys but the depression happens.
So...... how do you all keep in the spirit to have happy holidays???
PS: the KARMA's are great gestures...keep it up.
Greg

Alot of the times, I feel it is just another day...at best a commercialized effort to stimulate the economy for capitalist greed. But if you are able to spread alittle love and cheer and blame the Christmas spirit, then it's not all for nothing. The real trick is continuing that spirit for the other 364 days of the year! :D

    Might be seasonal affective disorder....

But i feel ya. I just sit down after work, pour a drink, and listen to some tunes. Too much stress this kind of year, especially in my line of work, and money is tight for everyone, makes for a lot of potential suckage.
I don't read the newsssspaperssss because dey aaaallllllllll...... have ugly print.

Nothing beats the blues like helping out a fellow traveler. Nothing. I suggest you volunteer for the local stewpot, contact Salvation Army and see if you can help deliver Christmas toys to families, etc. None of these cost a thing but your time and it beats sitting around feeling blue.

I totally understand your feeling blue this time of year. I have suffered through a few down holidays myself. In my case, getting out and doing something good is the answer. Contrary to popular belief, drinking usually exacerbates the problem so try to avoid any heavy drinking.

Good luck and remember, you are not alone.

This IS the toughest season to get through if your not wealthy and or your family isn't the best support group in other words.

Jehovahs' witnesses get through by not having to give one gift to anybody! How nice huh. That'll keep alot of stress away if everyone followed that tradition.
Their gifts are to their own branch of the church by tithing which is good to a point.

Some of us have rough roads to trod but keep your head up and try to help a less fortunate for there's always someone worse off than we are,Always!

Be thankful for our blessings and usually that lifts me up sometimes.
Most people just listen to music and watch movies. I EXPERIENCE them.

Visit some children in a terminal cancer ward. Your "problems" will never have the same impact again. Seriously.

Agreed, saw the Jim Gaffigan skit about greeting cards the other day and had to laugh

And I am surely less happy and optimistic during the winter months. I do think that seasonal depression has something to do with it. I usually am outside in the sun all summer, and winter means the opposite

Sometimes, making someone else feel better is exactly what we need. Hard to feel hopeless in that type of situation, right?

I believe that the manifestation of depression is realized when we feel deeply guilty for paying too much attention to ourselves.

Then again, I'm just a warehouseman, what the hell do I know?

As "pollyannish" as it sounds, attitude really is everything. In every situation, good and bad, we can take two approaches; 1) Why did this happen to me? OR 2) What can I learn from this? A positive attitude will always help you learn and grow---and benefit. A negative attitude serves absolutely no good purpose, and never made any situation better.

It's funny how some people take bad luck seriously and personally; like there is some evil force out to screw them at any opportunity. Bad luck can almost always be attributed to "operator error" if we can be honest enough with ourselves to see it, and get past the anger of what just happened.

I know I have gone thru that phase before, I'm not preaching, I'm sharing from personal experiences. When I think back to those times, it's comical (and rediculous) how stupid I was. My own worst enemy type of thinking.

Long story short, stay positive. Have a great Christmas Greg, spring is just around the bend.
