Volume control for outdoor speakers?

I have a AVR with zone 2 line out. I am planning on connecting them to the polk atrium speakers which I want to install on my patio. This way, folks can watch TV as well as listen to music in the patio during summer.

Does anyone have the schematics on how to install a volume control knob so the volume of the patio speakers can be controlled from the patio itself without having to go inside?

The general idea is that the reciever volume will be set high and then turned down from outside as needed. I'd love to get an idea of what type of volume control switch I would need and how the wiring would look like.

Thanks!

I abandoned the idea of running a manual (physical) volume control in my pool area and just went with a wireless remote that I could use to control the source. Just throwing that out there in case its an option for you. Use either an IR extender, an RF remote or WiFi.
