Even I do not play games but I always have an urge to buy the PS3. My son just bought me a PS3 which I will use as a BDP.

I haven't had time to hook it up yet. Out of the box this thing looks so cool.
Will see how it stand up to my PIO and Denon BDPs. I probably hook it straight up to the TV HDMI port for low level listenning @ night.

That was pretty nice of him! I wish my son would buy me a PS3... but since he's 19 months old, probably won't happen. ;)

    Enjoy!

Cool, you will not be dissapointed. I'm assuming it was the Slim? I haven't tried that one, but I love my 80 GB.

Well that's one on me...I was the guy who suggested a PS3/Samsung LCD bundle for my son...then I went out and bought one for myself...But that was more than a year ago....you'll enjoy it but get the dedicated DVD blluetooth remote because the normal menus may not be to your liking if you're not used to them and the PS3s controller...

The remote is only 25 bucks and you can often get it for 20 on sale!!

The PS3 also make a really good media server. I use it to stream lossless music and video from my PC. I never play games on it but my son does and they look spectacular on the big Sammy Plasma. I've even set it up to stream music from the computer into the PS3 out to a DAC and then onto my pre-amp. Sounds great.

As cnh stated though the bluetooth remote is a must. Way better than using the controller to navigate menus. Enjoy!!!

Thank you for all the info.

Yes, he loves me, indeed. I am feeling guilty like hell right now after finding out he works part-time as "mover-helper" while in college and save some of the $$$ to buy me the PS3.
