These do not show up in Dallas. I bought my first pair from southern CA and second pair in Austin.

I am to look at them this afternoon and it they look as described "like new" I will buy them but do not need them.

If anyone wants them I will hold them until they can make it to Dallas.

I've been looking for a pair of SDA 1Cs and set a 12 drive limit. Dallas happens to be exactly 12 hours.

thsmith - please let me know how they look and if you had a chance to listen to them.
    Thanks!

I've looking for 1Cs for six months and would like to buy them from you. I'm new to the forum but an old Polk fan. Sold my Monitor 7s in 1999 and have regretted it ever since. Done some research and read hundreds of posts on the forum abour the SDAs. Finally joined and look forward to learning more.

Will start to pay forward with some metal 4-post speaker stands for forum members.

Des Moines, we were not able to connect yesterday with seller but I will try to meet up with the seller next weekend and let you know.

Would be good to shoot me a PM with your phone number.

I was prepared to not get them as connecting has been difficult but if you are serious I will do what I can.

I drove 1100 miles each way when I bought my first pair and it was worth it.

    thsmith,

Thanks for your reply. I will send PM.

The offer for stands, stands :) I was impressed today by the generosity of vlam. I've not seen this type of generosity in years. The stands are 'high-end' (50-60 lbs w/bubble balance - no spikes) and will be no charge for local pick up for a PA member that needs them.

I was born in Ottumwa actually. I spent some early years in Windsor Heights (Cole Elementary) and then moved to Cedar Falls when I was eight. Grew up there and left the area when I graduated in 82. No jobs as farming and related manufacturing (John Deere) were really hurting. Landed here in Jackson and have lived either here or New Orleans ever since. I'm firmly transplanted and love the south very much. My parents moved back to Windsor Heights with my (younger brother) and recently to West Des Moines. My Brother now lives in Windsor Heights.

Yeah Bernie really let us down. What a shame. We were slated to be the telecom capitol of the world but he gutted us. He's got a few years in the Fed pen to think about it. I work in IT for our state broadcasting agency (MPB).

    Enjoy the SDA's!

This was a fun road trip and was able to make it back before the next snow storm. Had the pleasure of listening to thsmith's rad system and enjoyed some southern hospitality - his wife prepared a bag of homemade treats for the ride home. Stopped for pit bbq in OK and made it home in exactly 12 hours.

I've been actively searching for SDA 1Cs for six months. Responded to ads in Lincoln (first guy that called got em), Phoenix (first guy that called got em), Atlanta (seller wanted $1000, offered him $500 but he would not sell), Indy - studios looked like hell, Oakland - studios in bad shape, rural North Carolina - got this email from seller

..."Sorry for the delay. I do still have the speakers. No - no boxes.
I played them today for about 1.5 hours while I was doing some rat killin and boy do they still sound great!!!!" (so I decided to pass on this one)

This is how I view my 1C adventure...

    Tolls - $12
    Hotel -$66
    Gas - $140
    Mint SDA 1Cs - Priceless

Thanks again to thsmith and I plan to forward the good karma to other CP members.

The owner bought them in college and is about 42ish now. He is moving out of the country and reluctantly had to part with them.

He said he had 6 people contact him and I/Glenn were the only ones serious. 2 people offer to haul them away for him and thankly the owner knows what he had.

Glenn, let me officially welcome you to Club Polk, post some pics, share your expereinces and don't be afraid to ask a lot of questions.

There are some great people here and yes sometime they have bad days or just a little orniary but I assure you if you listen there is a lot to learn. Oh yea, we do have a few jerks but they don't last long.

Yeah,, at times we can be a little selective,,somebody's got to weed out the folks that do not have the desire to serve in Club Polk. I would encourage all with the desire to learn/grow---start making plans now for Polkfest 2010,,it's gonna be in NJ,,and for the first timers,, remember,, there is alot to learn,, the secret handshake, early morning rituals conducted under the cover of darkness, where age old audio secrets are passed on to the chosen.Sure,,it may look like a bunch of folks eating, drinking, and jamming,, but there's more, lots more,,Disneyjoe opens the door to the rabbit hole,,Uncle Ted hands you a glowing EL-34 to light your way thru the darkness,,and it begins. Welcome to club polk,, enjoy those 1C's,,congratulations.
