Are there any shareware or freeware programs that create a bootable CD that scans for viruses?

Thanks,

I second anti-malware because it is made to get rid of malware more than anything else. Virus programs will not protect you against malware.

Excellent program. I have it among a few other programs like CCleaner on a utilities disc.

Eh? Malware is the new jargon for virii, trojans, spyware, etc.

My personal favorite is the linux rescue disc, which also has a lot of utilities for recovering partitions/data, etc. The best thing about it is that you don't have to worry very much about a boot sector virus getting loaded during boot like you would if you're using windows pe. And yes, it can mount/scan windows drives, even ntfs formatted ones. LRD also has a gui that works pretty much on every system and is mouse driven, so no CLI archania worry about.

Google is your friend. Kaspersky are right up there, but I'd lean toward Bitdefender since it updates its definition.
Very disappointed with AVG that they charge for theirs ( and I told them so)
