I am building a HT on a budget of $500 I have a Yamaha RXV861 receiver that I already had. For the front I bought a pair of LS90's for a $100. For the rear I have a pair of RT25i's that I got for $90. Now I need a center and a sub. Any suggestions on what would be a good match. I can get a CS100 for $25 or the CS2 for $120. Would either of these match what I currently have? Then there is the sub. I haven't found any deals on one of these yet. I did find a PSW10 for $100 but don't know if it would do any justice. I have $310 left to spend. What do yall think would be a great match? Thanks

I don't know about the centers, sorry.

BUT: DO NOT waste your time with the PSW10. Won't do it any justice.

Look into the PSW505, it's been selling on newegg for $250. Then save a little more after for a center. :)
I don't read the newsssspaperssss because dey aaaallllllllll...... have ugly print.

I agree with Conceal - don't skimp out on the bass - if you got low now, you'll just end up spending more money upgrading it later.

especially with those 90's a PSW 10 really isn't going to add much to those.

the LS 90s actually go down lower than the PSW 10 as it is so you'll be losing some of the lower frequencies if you use it as a sub. I would maybe even save up for a better sub as well

LS90's for $100 - that one of the bigger steals I've heard.

I would look for a used CS400i, CS400, or CS350LS. All of those have the tri-lam tweeter and will match the LS90's nicely. These go for around $150-$200, sometimes lower if you find a good deal.

I use a CS400i with my LS90's and have also owned the CS350LS, but preferred the CS400i.

By the way, the RT25i's also have tri-lams and are a great match for the LS90's. So, you did good there too.

To be honest, you will not be able to do justice to your LS90's by trying to get a center and sub for $310.

If your room is small to medium, this is a very decent sub at a good price (on sale).
    http://www.hsuresearch.com/products/stf-2.html

You could pick up either the sub or center now, and then save up for the other.

If it were me, I'd go for the sub first (don't like the idea of playing LFE through the LS90's) and keep an eye out in the Flea Market here and on eBay for one of the centers I mentioned above.

Well I got a sub it is a klipsch 12 synergy man this thing is a beast. I never owned a sub before so I don't know if they all hit like this but it I feel it in my chest. What i really like is you can't tell where its coming from. I spent a little more than I wanted but for $250 I feel I did ok. Now I need a center and my system will be complete. I only have $60 left for a center so I guess I will need to spend alittle more than I wanted but it will be worth it. I am going to take your advice Adam and get a CS400i now if I can just find one.

The Klipsch sub is built for slam...it's a tad sloppy with music but very good for HT which you've noticed already...I would stay with the tri-lam tweeter center...

But the CS2/CS20 would probably not be that far off in terms of performance if you can't find the compatible center.

    Enjoy,
