Moonshine and cheap cables!

I mean... errr... 6moons "White Lightning Moonshine" cables.

http://www.6moons.com/audioreviews/whitelightning/moonshine.html

I just made myself some of these the other night. You can get everything you need from Walmart (the conductor) and parts express (everything else).

Instead of speaker cables and interconnects, I made speaker cables and a Pin-only SDA cable.

These sound GREAT. They took a while to break in (probably still are about 50 hrs later) but they really made a difference over my cheap "Monster" lamp cord speaker cables and stock Pin-Blade SDA cable.

I've always felt that my SDAs were very 'bright' on top (probably due to the SL2000s) but these cables have REALLY tamed the brightness a lot, and have brought the mids forward a bit (which my setup really needed). I couldn't be happier with the results.

I still have to add shrink sleeve for the finishing touches, but once I do I'll post up some photos.

DO THIS MOD!!

Yeah turns out they're not great power cables (which is ironic, considering the that the whole thing started as an extention cord).

Seriously though, I was really skeptical about this speaker cable, but they're incredible.

Wow! I don't know why they have to destroy a good power cord when they can use Free Coat Hangers for the same results. If cheap is the option they want, nothing can beat coat hangers as electrical wire. :D

Yeah, honestly I don't have a lot to help you with for comparison. I've never had the money to invest in serious high end cables. I am very happy with the ones that I've made though.

I'm wondering about the RCA's and how they're not shielded. Wouldn't that be an issue?

Dude... I wasn't kidding. I've got nothing expensive to compair them to, but I swear, these sound good.

I just bought another 40 foot yesterday, and I have the RCA plugs on order. So hopefully by years end I'll have RCA cables to talk about too.

I'll take some pics either later tonight or tomorrow morning. I'm busy auditioning a C-1 right now though.

I would think that extension cord cables would oxidize and breakdown over time.

You're correct, enjoy them while they last.
