I love the HD radio sound fom my Onkyo 876. Yeah, it't not hi-end SQ as CDs but overall I am happy with it.

I am looking to buy another HD Radio from BB, the Insignia. Do not know abt Insignia but it looks very much like the Sangan HD and the Insignia is only $99.00 plus some local sale tax. It also comes with toslink connection.

Any one uses the insignia HD radio from BB, please chime in.

    I bought one last year and returned it. Maybe it was cheap or maybe it was defective, not sure. Nothing but static on am, picked up one hd station but didn't sound very good.

    Take a look at the Sony HD radio.
    I like speakers that are bigger than a small refrigerator but smaller than a big refrigerator:D

    Take a look at the Sony HD radio.

    Bought the Insignia HD @ BB today. It locks on the HD channels pretty good without any fancy HD antenna. Soundwise is a disapointment. No or very little bass, bright and skinny high FQ. Well, this baby will be back at BB tomorrow.

    I wonder what kind of HD radio that Onkyo 876 employed that sounds damned good make me wanting to listen to HD radio for hours.

    well I think you're dealing with a quality issue when it comes to insignia as its a BB brand, while I know the BB brand tvs (dynex and insignia) are made with parts from quality manufacturers, i would be very wary of anything else they make..
    Main 2ch -
    BlueSound Node->Ethereal optical cable->Peachtree Audio Nova 150->GoldenEar Triton 2+
    TT - Pro-ject Classic SB with Sumiko Bluepoint.

    TV 3.1 system -
    Denon 3500 -> Dynaudio Excite 32/22

    Dunno, but the Insignia HD gives me an impression of listening music thru a tin can : Thin, Hollow and most of all no bass.

    Hell. It's not the HD signal but it's a HD receiver. I listen to radio thru my Zune and a cheap earphone every morning when I walk my dog and the Zune produces clean, clear and balanced sound.

    In short, Insignia is a POS. The Sangant HD is another re-badged of the Insignia if I am not mistaken.

    Get the Sony XDR-F1HD. See the following post.

    Also check for some mods to the Sony.

    Thanks for the info. I may grab the Sony from BB for their generous return policy. As long as it sounds as good as the Zune Fm tuner, I will be happy.

    Would someone please tell me that why the Zune Fm with a pair of earbud head phone sounds so good ?
