Did the 3.1TLs have polyswitches?

Hi,

I recently got a pair of 3.1TLs, and am in the process of reding the resistors/capacitors on the crossovers. After pulling the crossovers boards and looking at them, I noticed there is no polyswitch on the board (that I can see anyway). There is a jumper in the S1 spot (where the polyswitch I believe was located on my SDA 2B crossovers).I am wondering if they used polyswitches for these speakers? If so, where should it be (is it) located? I can post pics of the crossovers if that'll help. Thanks for your help.

Thank you for the info. So, basically there is no protection for the tweeters in these speakers?

My 3.1tl`s did have a poly-switch. I replaced it with a jumper as recommended by the forum vets. Enjoy!

Huh, interesting. Maybe some they did have them and some they didn't? I don't think mine were modified at all, so I think they did not have them direct from the Polk factory. WHat was the build month and year of yours. Mine are January '91.

My mistake; there was no poly switch. I saved the old parts (in case I didn`t like the sonicaps), and just looked at them...no poly switch. I must have been thinking of the jumper I installed where the silver-mica cap was.

I did remove a poly-switch from my rta8`s when I rebuilt those crossovers, and installed a jumper. Sorry about that.

Really? I will pull the passive and check my work.

I followed the thread started by Ricardo a couple years back about the 3.1tl rebuild. They sound great.

No jumper. Just pulled it and left it empty, as Ricardo recommended. Thanks for keeping me in check F1!! You are always good about that.

Dacoup, could you please post a link to this rebuild page? I have done searches for a rebuild on the 3.1TL, but could not find one. Only, many for the 1.2s and a few 2.3s. Thanks!
