    I agree.

But not too shabby for a group that hasn't been together for almost 40 years, wouldn't you say?

That actuallly is a little suprising. It amounts to what is basically a greatest hits album. Looking at the other albums though does put things in to perspective.

It's true that the Beatles' "1" album is basically a greatest hits album....and they're plenty of other greatest hits albums by other artists that have sales exceeding those of the Beatles' "1" (i.e. Billy Joel, Elton John, Eagles*, Journey, and even the Beatles' own "Red" and "Blue" greatest hits sets), but none sold at such a brisk pace as "1".

    * The Eagles' "Greatest Hits" and Michael Jackson's "Thriller" are currently tied as the biggest selling album in the US....at over 29 million sold for each.

List of albums that have sold 10 million or more, as certified by RIAA

In perspective to what? That's the music that WE are buying. I'm sure people are thinking of what they consider GREAT albums, and they didn't make the list. Yes, I am a Beatles fanatic...and I am surprised, but very happy. It shows that good music is understood and appreciated throughout time. I also read an article that the biggest One Hit Wonder of the decade:

"Bad Day" - can't remember who wrote it, but it's the song used on American Idol what contestants are kicked out.

The Beatles are the antithesis of the one hit wonder! Rock on!

Rumor has it that at the end he was like Mr. Potato Head, with his nose and johnson being interchangable.
