Just joined but have been browsing for sometime now.

I have been in the research stage of a starter 5.1 home theater system and found your site very helpful. I fell in love with Polk speakers when I tried them out and ran side by side comparisons at the big box store.

Anyway just ordered my starter 5.1 system .
Here is what I got coming:

Center: CS10 Cherry Center Speaker Single
Sub: PSW10 Black 10-inch Powered Subwoofer Single
Surrounds: RM101
Receiver: Onkyo TX-SR507

What do yall think? Do you think the 101 will work? That is my biggest concern but my installation room is not too big...

I can't wait to get them in.

I posted this in the hangout forum but realized I should have put it here.....

For a starter system, any speakers will do to help create the Surround Sound affect. I see nothing wrong with it, but if you find anything lacking... simply upgrade as needed.

    Welcome!

What are you using as mains? Did I miss it? Congrats on the system, esp. the Onkyo. I love Onkyo AVR's and you will be happy with it I'm sure. Using the CS10 I would assume you got TSi or Monitor's for your fronts? Any other series would not be an ideal timbre match and may cause problems. Good luck and welcome to Club Polk.

Welcome to CP tiger, congrats on your first Polk system. Enjoy the upgrading bug that comes with owning Polk speakers and being a member of this forum. You really should get some front speakers though . . .

Darn...i should have posted BEFORE I ordered....Well i will hook this up and see what happens. But I suspect I will need some fronts...I thought I could use the rm101s. Well I guess my 5.1 will become a 7.1 real soon. But like I said, I am very new to this; infact I have never done a surrond before.
Thanks for the welcomes and advice....

Seeing as how you ordered a CS10 center, you will want to have a look at the TSi series of speakers. I like floorstanders for the front (and in my case the surrounds as well).
The RM's will do fine for surrounds.

I wonder if the RM101 will be a good match with the CS10 center? if you like the CS10 maybe you should consider Tsi for fronts and the RM only for the rears?

    Cheers!

    Hey and welcome.

You would definitely get a better response by introducing yourself and posting a new thread in this sub-forum (speakers).

Thread-jacking someone else's topic is not very nice. :)

Stick around.... accumulate 15 more posts (preferably in a non-bs manner) and then post them for sale. They should sell.
