Hi Folks

Just joined but have been browsing for sometime now.

I have been in the research stage of a 5.1 home theater system and found your site very helpful. I fell in love with Polk speakers when I tried them out and ran side by side comparisons at the big box store.

Anyway just ordered my starter 5.1 system to go with my new 58 in plasma tv.

Here is what I got coming:
Center: Polk Audio CS10 Cherry Center Speaker Single
Sub: Polk Audio PSW10 Black 10-inch Powered Subwoofer Single
Surrounds: 4 Polk Audio RM101
Receiver: Onkyo TX-SR507

What do yall think? Do you think the 101 will work? That is my biggest concern but my installation room is not too big...

I can't wait to get them in.

Edit: I probably got too tech on my intro huh...oh well I am rookie

are you going for the newegg deal?

It should be fine. As mains they will be a bit weak for music if you listen in 2 channel only (CS10 not engaged). If you listen in dolby it should be fine.

Totally fine for an entry level system IMO. The RM101s can quickly surrounds if you want to upgrade to a 7.1 and get nicer L+R speakers.

thats a nice starter set. Will surely blow any HTIB away. When you get a chance i would recommend pickung up a pair of bookshelfs, like the monitor 30/40, and moving the others into surround duty.

    Overall good pickup.. enjoy it.
    Front - RTiA5's
    Rear - RTiA3's
    Center - CSiA4
    Sub - PSW110

    ?!
Visit "The Rants" section at thesamba.com if you want to see "blast"; these guys are pretty friendly unless you flaunt your ignorance like it's the most awesome prize in the world.

That said; that is one heck of a nice set up.
If you have any SQ issues, this site is the place to come to get them sorted out, as I've learned so much in my short time here.

Thanks for the advice and thanks to all you for the welcomes.
I postes this in the speacker section and got similar advic on fronts.

Yes I did go with newegg and this entire system cost me $630. practicall the same as the box sets.

I will be using it primarily as suround system if I find my self using it as sterio LR then I will upgrade an make it into a 7.1 with better LRs. I would have to upgrade the reciever too.

Thansk again and this site has been a huge help.
