Well I will find out about the XPA-1's, I just hooked up my XPA-5. WHERE IS THE POWER. Not quite there yet. Little difference from 140 wpc to 200 wpc. Ill report back on this one.
Hmmm strange, i noticed quite a bit of an improvement when i went from my 140w/ch AVR power to the xpa5, then the switch to xpa1's was just like WOW

Is that actually the MPS-3?? 400 watts by 7 into 4 ohms! I am looking forward to this as well. I am not sure of the model, but my friend stated that he has pre ordered this amp. I am looking forward to the comparison with my amp.

To biamp or not to biamp. Curious mind needs to know.
Received this from emotiva today and might help others with equipment selection. I was also just thinking that the "ultimate option" he wrote about is alots of equipment. I do have a big room......thats alots of equipment.
Know where to get a heavy duty component rack?
Joe,
Regarding your system and the various configurations to get more headroom I would recommend the following.
Right now you have the XPA-5.
If you were to add to that an XPA-2 to drive the woofers on you main speakers and use the 5 to drive the rest of your speakers as well as the highs on your mains this would give you considerably more headroom in the system.
Another option would be to add another XPA-5 and then bi-amp your entire system. This would give you considerably more power than what you have now and would relieve some of the load the current XPA-5 is handling. If you go this route, I would recommend you stagger the system, which is to say dont use one XPA-5 for all the woofers and the other for all the tweeters. You will get far better performance by splitting it up so each is handling some of the lows and some of the highs.
A third option would be to get an XPA-3. The you could bi-amp your front stage where the majority of the load is for the entire system. This will give you increased headroom and added power where it really counts.
Now the ultimate upgrade would be to use 2) XPA-1 amplifiers to drive your main speakers and then use the XPA-5 to drive everything else. This will free up a couple of channels on the 5 to bi-amp your surrounds or center channel.
I hope this helps and best regards,
