so it seems we don't have an active WOW thread and with what looks to be the final Lich King patch having dropped yesterday, I was just curious who else plays and what they think of the some of the patch changes? Also has anyone attemped to hook their PC up to their Home theater via HDMI to get a better experience?

I stopped playing around 2 months ago because everything had become so boring. I'll probably start playing when the new expansion comes out.
I have a dedicated Media server/pc that I keep hooked up to my tv. I use it for music and HD movies."Dr Dunn admitted that his research could also be interpreted as evidence that women are shallower than men. Well, let me start off first by saying.....what the hell happened?
I can't comment about the recent patch since I've been away from the game for over 10 months. What do I think of things so far? It's too damn easy! I've been running a few raids/heroics just to get a good feel for my character and it seems everyone's geared everywhere I go! And worst of all, they're pulling small mobs and playing it safe so you know these guys lack experience. /endrant
Might not continue playing, I'm on that 7-day gift time since my account was inactive. Last I remember is tanking Ulduar and waiting for my 1-hr c/d to run down on my hearthstone. Now you've got gear given to you and level 20's riding mounts, wth?Truck setup

Yeah, that's why I mentioned it. Alot has changed since I left. I remember getting $375+ offers for my account before I quit, now I wish I would've sold it.....it was way geared just months ago.
Least I got my Mechano-hog and Cenarion H. mounts.Truck setup

I started playing it when it released in late 2004. I sold my account a year later for somewhere in the vicinity of $1,000 (I forgot the exact amount, but it's posted here somewhere). That was back when raiding was actually a challenge...wiping on bosses like Vaelastrasz for hours on end. I had a completely geared out Shaman on a server where we were the 1st and only ones to have downed Nef. I have gone back to it twice with new accounts because I wanted to save money and that game was great for passing the time and didn't cost you more than $20/mo.
As is the case with all MMORPGs you have to invest way too much time to experience all those types of games have to offer. World of Warcraft is by far the worst time sink in the history of gaming.
This will fall on deaf ears to anyone still playing, so this is for anyone thinking about it -- don't play this game.
I have been clean for a year and a half. -
If you can be a casual player, and have friends to play with, then there's nothing wrong with playing WoW. If you're someone who REALLY gets into games (plays some games for days on end with hardly a break), then stay away."Dr Dunn admitted that his research could also be interpreted as evidence that women are shallower than men. The reason its so easy now is that most players are casual and don't want to spend 20 hours a week on it getting essentially nowhere.. along with people who want to be able to level their alts faster. I've been playing for about a year and just got to 80 this summer.. I enjoy it but I do get bored at times b/c you are doing the same thing over and over again at some point.. I haven't decided if i'm going to play the new expansion yet, but I do at least want to get through the 10 man raid to kill the Lich King as I never had a chance to see the endgame of either vanilla wow or BCMain 2ch -

Yes, but then you don't really get the full experience of the game, either. I understand that's not important to everyone. Still, I would caution everyone regardless of personality to not even start playing a never ending game.
As for casuals...sure, you may get into "end game" content, but not until after all of the strategies are plastered all over the net and gear is easy to come by. They've made it a little easier, but good luck finding enough quality raiders who want to carry a casual through the content so they can "waste" the gear being off line 4-5 nights out of 7.
I'm really into games and want to experience them in full, but no way will I sacrifice my career, family, friends, or health. That's why I always ended up quitting this game. I was in a guild for a while that was very serious about raiding, but we only did it 3 nights a week. We were very high in the rankings on our server, but even that got to be too much. There's just a point where you ask yourself why in the hell you're actually having to schedule time to play a video game because your in-game friends aren't pissed at you if you don't log on.
Eventually, WoW ceases to be fun.
