I have the #10" subwoofer that I just bought. I want to place it on the shelf below where the 46" tv sits but..... the instructions say both magnetism from the speaker will not effect an LCD TV and also not to place closer than 18".

Can I place the speaker closer than 18" to my new LCD tv and not worry about damage.???? thx

You should be ok, interference of that nature only affected the old tube style TV's IIRC. Hook it up and try it, if it is going to affect anything you will know very quickly, lol. Maybe not the best advice, but hopefully someone will confirm my thoughts. Welcome to Club Polk.

Good advice above. Also, I wouldnt place the sub "in" or "on" a shelf, your going to create all kinds of vibration and resonance problems. Welcome to CP!

I live in a small apartment and I think I have a problem due to that. Not the sub with the tv but when I watch a movie, there is a very low, deep constant bass sound that comes out. I don't know if its due to the proximity of my sub to my floor standing speakers.

Try adjusting your sub volume/ and or crossover level.
