The Yamaha is a capable receiver... I would consider looking for Monitor 60's up front with a CS2 and maybe monitor 30's for the rear. This should get you great sound and be under budget if you buy them right.

Please tell us where you are located. We can help you look over your local CL deals, and make suggestions. Also consider room treatments if you have hardwood. They are pretty inexpensive if you make them yourself."They who can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety."

Welcome to CP
I am in the same boat. I am looking at the monitor 60's and 70's at NewEgg, just hoping the price will drop even more. One good thing is they have free shipping.

Ok I found this on newegg its
Polk Audio Monitor 50 Black Two-way Floorstanding Loudspeaker pair $200
Polk Audio CS2 Black Center Channel Loudspeaker Single $120
Polk Audio PSW10 Black 10-inch Powered Subwoofer Single $100
Polk Audio Monitor 30 Black Two-way bookshelf loudspeaker Pair $95
Does that seem like a good deal for $515?
Is that a good sub?
Should I wait and keep shopping for something better used?
Thanks -
That is not a bad entry level system at all. Good choice with the CS2, don't change your mind on that one. The 50's are a good choice too, but trust me when I say you will want to upgrade those soon. The good news is, you can use those as surrounds if you ever decide to step up to the 60's or 70's. The PSW10 is a decent little sub, but keep in mind you won't get a whole lot of low end from those 50's and the PSW10 should help fill in the gaps a little. You aren't going to get earth shattering bass from the PSW10, but it will blend nicely with the 50's. The 30's are also a good choice for your surrounds and are wall mountable, so that helps too. Another option for your surrounds for about $30 more are the Monitor 40's. They are beasts though and are not wall mountable, so that may not be an option for you. Again, looks like you are on track here, just beware of upgradeitis, lol. Welcome to Club Polk.
