The entertainment center is inset into the wall. So all the speakers have their backends in front of the entertainment center.

Whoops! just checked the pics again and missed it. My mistake.

You should see the neighbors room. He has 20-25 feet ceilings in his great room and the room opens into the kitchen. I go over and look at his SDA's and come back to my house and mine look giant compared to his.

We are actually interested in Ben's 7 foot giant project and are talking about a getting a fun winter project going, budget permitted, if Ben wants to share some of his knowledge.

OK..so how important is it to have a side wall? My living room is open to the kitchen area. So i have just one side wall. Maybe its my imagination or I have not spent enough time listening to them but I feel that I am getting more of the SDA effect from the side(left) with the wall as opposed to the other side.

You are getting reflections. You need room treatments to correct that.
Please. Please contact me a ben62670 @ yahoo.com. Make sure to include who you are, and you are from Polk so I don't delete your email. Also I am now physically unable to work on any projects. If you need help let these guys know. There are many people who will help if you let them know where you are.
    Thanks
    Ben

    Ok,
I got some pics. of the left side with the rti12 on the inside and of the right side with the rti12 on the outside. As you can also see there is no side wall on the right side. There is 3 feet between the left 1.2 and the wall. I plan on bringing the sda away from the wall so it sits even with the front of the rti12. That will be about a foot away from the back wall.

    Any thoughts?

I think they will sound much better when you install the drivers....

I have experienced nothing more than a pillow, placed at just the right spot bringing sound from 4" behind my ear [very annoying and improperly located within the sound stage] to the proper placement and total enjoyment. Think 1st reflection.

Finicky? Yes. When done? The toe tappin' and sheer enjoyment begins. At that point, enjoy the music.

So I am not getting any SDA effect at all then? Just reflections.

I know I have some serious reflections off the back of the room. I sit about 2-3 feet away from the back and the whole wall is just 5 floor to ceiling windows. My wife is working on making cloth blinds with some thicker material that is supposed to insulate that I am hoping will also absorb sound reflections.

I am so confused..We need to start an SDA placement service.
