Hey guys, just introducing myself on these forums. New to Polk; I had Klipsch SF-1 floorstanders before, but being in a small apartment (college student) Ineeded something smaller, so I got the Monitor 30's and PSW10. Nice setup, midrange much clearer than with the towers. Anyways, hope to learn more about the grand world of sound from you all.

Haha, thanks for the advice and warm welcoming guys. I'm a UCF student from Orlando, FL, for the guy who was asking. Been in FL my whole life and want to GET OUT!

Glad I made the move from Klipsch to Polk. Just did a 2 hour listening session A-B comparison between my new Polks and my Klipsch's and the Polks have a much stronger midrange presence and more detail. Only thing I need to do is get the sub to integrate with the bookshelves better; sounds a bit off. This setup with the NAD equipment is my first "real" 2 channel setup (however budget it may be lol), so I'm still learning.

    Welcome!

Funny you ask; I can't exactly tell. I believe my sub has a manufacturing flaw; both the crossover and volume knobs on the back don't actually start at "80 hz" and "min" when turned all the way down to the lowest setting; they start above that so that when you max out the knob they're both past what is labeled as "120 hz" and "max", respectively. And I bought them as a "bulk item" on Newegg, so I can't even exchange them or anything. No crossover on my amp wither; the NAD integrated is only a 2 channel with no sub output, so everything is connected via speaker ins and outs. Anyways, I tried to guesstimate and put the knob where 100 hz might be if the damn thing was calibrated correctly lol.

Haha, hard to believe it, but true. I listen to mostly music on my rig, so midrange detail and clarity is more important than low end output, so the Polks win. I'm content considering I paid $199.98 for both speakers and sub shipped :D

Anyway, does anyone have anything to say about the best way I can get the sub and monitors to gel a bit better? Also, considering most Polks seem to have bi-wire capability: is it possible (or even worthwhile) to bi-wire my monitor 30's if I'm using the speaker in/out on the PSW10?

Don't waste your money on bi-wire for the 30's. I would however switch out the brass strap between the 2 speaker connections on the back with some extra speaker wire you may have. Placement is also key to getting everything to gel. Move the sub around a bit or the speakers out with a little toe in. I see you like Nad gear,a good choice, and welcome to the forum.

Thanks for the info; I will definitely try out replacing the strap with speaker wire, wouldn't have thought of that. And yes, listened around before purchasing and I liked the NAD's warmth and dynamic range. Plus, the fact that their products seem to offer great sound for little cash sounds good to me lol.

Can you pull the knobs off the sub controls to "re-zero" them? IE - turn it all the way down, then pull the knob off and realign it with the minimum setting.
