while we setup the tree. Grabbed a Christmas LP and tossed it on, set the needle down, and it skims right past the first track AAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH.
So i pick up the tone arm and take a look, the needle is like all bent over and junk. Oh well time to find a new one, now If I could just figure out how to get it off with out breaking everything. So......I'll just throw a cassette in the tape player, I didn't know the chipmunks played songs by poison? The tape was playing at FF speed ahhhhhhh. hit stop hit play all is fine except the left channel is real quiet. Guess it's time to clean and adjust. Luckily the"oldies station"(50's-80's) has been playing Christmas Music since before thanksgiving. Happy Hallothanksmas year.

Not going to well huh? It always comes in threes some say. Hate to hear about the needle. I had one bend and tried to straighten it. No Go, snap. I think you know since you starting to switch it out.

I still have cassettes. Space music and some classics I play out in either of my smaller tool sheds when I go to straighten them out. I'll upgrade one day soon to cd's out there. Oh yeh,one local station plays Christmas music 24/7 now till the 26th so that's cool out there too. Untill I hear them 3 or 4 times over.
One time I hooked up a portable TV with DVD capability and watched/listened to Star Wars movies while cleaning up.:D

I'm about to put the Carpenters and Trans Siberian music on in the coming days myself.

Nothing says happy holidays like a bent needle on your turntable. sorry that bites.

ahhh the Carpenters Christmas music... reminds me of my childhood. not sure why but I still think the Carpenters Christmas music is spot on and always puts me in a good mood and less stress during this busy time of the year.

The other folks in my office are decorating the fake office tree, so I've got TSO cranked on the R15's to celebrate. It's very rare, but I do occasionally get to let them stretch their legs :)

Of course, I'm, uh... too busy... to help do the actual decorating. Shucks...
    Ludicrous gibs!

well... we have on the order of 30 hours of holiday music dubbed from vinyl (mostly) to VHS Stereo HiFi videocassette. FM analog stereo recording, no NR, 100 dB dynamic range, and 6 to 8 hours on a single tape. Cannot beat it for holiday background, if you ask me.

Perry Como's crooning even as I type this (took a long weekend; burning some vacation time and hoping work doesn't flare up to the point I need to go in later today).

My stepmom makes that every year. It's one of my favorite seasonal food / drinks.

I always thought it was spelled "Glug." Stupid umlats.
If you will it, dude, it is no dream.

Crap you should really see it when I do drink. It's been a few years, and a few before that and so on. I'm not to worried about the stuff, it's just stuff. 30 bucks invested an I got that out of it. The turn tables no big deal just gotta figure out how to get that needle off of that thing. Now if it was something like a VPI Scout trailmaster 2 with the 10" fender flares and had to pay $75 bucks for a needle than I'd have an issue.

My wife says we might try some Glögg, doesn't sound too bad.(She has been a long time lurker and laugher)

heh, I cannot wait until I break off the cantilever off of the Clearaudio Virtuoso Ebony cartridge on my Marantz :-P And it isn't a question of if; it's definitely when.

    Ergo, I am empathetic!
