Upgrading to an RT5000p system????

I was contemplating upgrading my speaker system to an RT5000p system. I currently have a dedicated home theater room that is 14x20 with a 106" projection screen. I currently have the RT2000i's in the front, CS400i in the center, RT800i as the surround, and a pair of rt35i's for the back. All of the speakers are being powered by an Onkyo 805. Do you guys think I would notice a big difference in the sound? One attraction to the RT5000p is the f/x1000i's. I think I could hang them up a little higher on the wall than the rt800 currently stands. Sometimes, shorter folks can't hear the surround channels due to the high back on my Berkline Reno seats. What do you guys think I could sell the RT2000i's, CS400i, and RT800i's for on Ebay/Craigslist? I would probably keep the RT35i's in the back. Please let me know your thoughts and if I am wasting my time.
Thanks,
DW

I am also using a Velodyne CT-120 Sub.

I've never heard an RT5000 system but my current set-up is almost identical to yours. You will most likely gain higher bass levels since the powered subs are much better on the 3000p's as opposed to the 2000i's. However, before you get rid of an already great system...try moving your 800i's to the front and the taller 2000i's to the rear. When I moved my 55i's (basically bookshelf sized 800i's) to the front and 2000i's to the rear it made a noticeable difference. The powered subs on the 2000i's filled the room nicely when moved to rear duty. I really see no need for a powered center channel such as the Cs1000.Pioneer SC-37

IMO, for the price I think you would get on the internet. I think you might be better off keeping some of the speakers.
$300-$500 Rt2000i's
$125-$200 Cs400i
$150-$250 Rt800i
$150-$225 Fx500i
Shipping the 2000's will cost a small fortune and again IMO I don't think anyone would be willing to pay more than $500 shipping included. For that price....they are worth keeping. Same with the 800's. As for the Cs400, I have mine in the Flea market for $180 shipped $150 pick-up and there's not much interest.Pioneer SC-37

Providing he can locate the 5000 system at a good price that is. Hopefully he knows Polk doesn't make them anymore. He may be better served hitting the RTA line with a used sub from the usuall characters.HT SYSTEM-

I apprecite the feedback!!
I have located a local RT5000p system which includes the CS1000p (rosewood), RT3000p (rosewood), and the fx 1000's (black). The asking price is 1500.00. I was hoping to get 1000.00 out of my old system, but don't think I would be able to part with the rt2000i for less than 500. They are great speakers. How do you guys feel about the 1500.00 for the RT5000p set? -
I guess I could keep my rt2000i for the surround back channels and get rid of my rt35i's.

I went ahead and purchased the RT5000p system for 1300.00. The seller was the original owner and the setup was in fantastic shape. So far, I have only listened to the center and it is awesome!!!! very pleased so far. Tonight I will finish hooking up the towers and the surrounds. I will be using my RT2000i for the back channels in the 7.1 config. I will also finish hooking up my 3 buttkickers with the 1900 watt buttkicker amp. I just received the amp because it was on backorder since October. With all these changes, I should notice a big difference. I will post som pics soon.

Congrats.
I would definitely consider $1300 a steal, even $1500 is a great buy. All depending on condition of course.
Enjoy and let us know how it sounds when you get it all going, I think you'll be impressed.
DaveOnce again we meet at last. -
Good move. The CS1000P is an amazing center channel speaker and blows the CS400 out of the water. The additional bass on vocals is most notable. I too upgraded from RT2000P fronts, a CS400 center and some ls/fx rear speakers. Since then, I've added a second pair of FX1000's for 7.1. PHENOMENAL!
NOW........if you want to make your RT5000 system REALLY sing, add a separate power amp into your system and use the Onkyo as the pre/pro.
BTW, welcome to the club!____________________________________________________________

Agreed. Great price considering it was a $7,500 system in it's day. Just because they aren't made anymore doesn't diminish the fact that they create a fantastic HT experience.____________________________________________________________
