RTI A1's, is my receiver up to par?

Hey everyone, I've been soaking up information like a sponge but I have some questions.
I'm currently running RTI A1's with a PSW 110. I'm using a Pioneer VSX-D509S receiver. After reading a smidge on receivers I'm beginning to worry that my receiver may not be up to par. Although I'd have no idea if my speakers were receiving enough juice as I just upgraded from simple computer speakers so anything sounds better.
I suppose my actual question is, should I look into a new receiver or should I look at the pre-amp thingy large hookup? I primarily use them for music while studying (Med school is a ****), Movies, and sound design (I design sounds for games in my spare time).
