Receiver shutoff problem

I hope I am posting this in the right forum. If not please let me know.
I have Polk LSi15 front speakers and a Polk LsiC center speaker connected through an Emotiva XPA-3 amplifier to a Pioneer Elite SC-05 receiver. When I try to play a SACD on a Yamaha S1800 connected to the multichannel analog inputs on the Pioneer, after a minute or so the receiver switches to muting and if I turn off muting the receiver shuts off. This happens even at low sound levels. Does this indicate a problem with the receiver or the connections?
Thanks for any help.

are any wires on the receiver touching each other or stray strands of wire sticking out?

No wires seem to be shorted.
I can play SACD or BD on a PS3 connected using HDMI. -
I would definitely re-check all speaker connections. Also, and where I would start, is swapping the IC's connecting the player to the AVR. They could be bad.
Is the SACD player the only source causing this problem?-Kevin

I switched out the ICs from the SACD player to the receiver and that seems to have fixed the problem. Thanks for the help.
