Since this month >>>[Dec. of 2007], my life has gone nothing but downhill [self employed]. It was slow at first, but noticeable, and graduated to a full blown knockout just before election time. **** happened along the way and the next thing you know, my wife and I have a son during the worst economy and financial times of our lives.

I am VERY proud to say that the outlook seems to be headed back to "the good times". I don't know how many of you noticed the time it all started but in talking with business folks of all classes, Dec. of '07 is when it started going downhill.

We still have a hard path to travel but for the first time in quite some time? There is a light at the end of the tunnel.

You do not need to respond to this post. I'm just throwing out there for the folks that are having a hard time. There IS a light at the end of the tunnel. Hunker down and batten the hatches until then.

I just wanted to post this because I am in an industry that sees indicators of the economy way before most folks notice. I was the first to see it slow down.....I'd just like to be the first to publicly say that there are definite signs of the economy getting better within my industry and others as well.

With all of the BS on the news, I just figured that I would shed a glimpse of hope to those who may need it right now. ;)

Hang in there. Good things come to those who wait.

The economy maybe, and I stress maybe, starting to take a turn, but it's a jobless turn up. Some sectors will see a rise while some will continue to fall like a rock. I am also in an industry that is a pretty good gauge of the economy. Right now unemployment in my field is 40%. Not exactly a light at the end of the tunnel by any means. Glad things are looking up for you though. I know how tough it can be with a youngster.

Guess it depends where you are. I'm in Michigan, I'd say the slowdown started to really speed up in 2005, but really, it's been downhill here since about 2000. I'm not sure it will ever turn around here, as more and more companies continue to move out of state.

Even with a population decline that has been steady for over 9 years, the jobless rate continues to rise.

I can't stand seeing the 2 year old signs that read, " NC needs match and science teachers!!"

Well, I am a math and science teacher and have no luck finding any work. sigh.

I've heard about Michigan and the f'ed up polititians running that state into the deep red.Ohio having shopping malls close over the years to.I have inlaws living up there so I hear about stuff once in a while.

My daughter got a 4 yr. degree in education here in NC. and when she found out what is expected of teachers she tried and tried until after three years got into the Medical realm. That has taken a hit also but she's still employed so far and doesn't feel too used and abused.

I wonder what this country is going to be like in 2020! I'm sitting here hoping but I also worry too.
