Hello! Oh boy a whole bunch of speaker geeks! Any ways I have a set of SDA SRS big boys that I recently bi amped. I am using 2 Kenwood Basic M2A's. They are wired per the instructions in the manual. Now I do not have the inside row of drivers on the right speaker not working. Any ideas? MY babies are sick and I need them fixed. Been a while since the law has come over and told me to turn it down because the people next door do not like there dish's rattling! lol ANy help or suggestions would be appreciated.

If you're using two separate amps (one to power each speaker), and you're also using the SDA interconnect cable, you have just blown up your SDA array. Were you using an A-1 cable? Do your amps allow them to have the negatives "strapped?"

Welcome to Club Polk. I'm sorry to say I agree with John as the two amps wired seperately are not common ground and you probably blew the right array.

I wired them per the instructions in the manual. I hooked them back up in standard stereo mode with 1 amp and they are working fine. Thank god. The way the manual says to wire it is one amp runs the tweeters and one amp runs the drivers. I have the standard interconnect cable. Are you saying the Kenwood M2A is not a common ground amplifier?

It's great to hear that you didn't blow your dimentional array.

If you want to check your Kenwood for common ground, place an ohm meter on the left & right negative speaker posts (of course with the amp off and not connected to speakers) and see if the reading reads ZERO or near ZERO.

If it is not common ground call Kenwood technical support and ask if it is okay to strap the negatives together.

Yeah, be glad I'm not your neighbor.

Seriously, if your neighbor is that close, you have an obligation to not disturb their life.
The way the manual says to wire it is one amp runs the tweeters and one amp runs the drivers.

    Did you remove the jumpers?

I had a Kenwood M2A to power my Bose 601's and it was a great amp. When the SDA-SRS's (original version) became available, I was asked by the Polk dealer to bring the amp in to demo the speakers. He stated that it may not handle the low impedance load of the big boys. A customer just fried a M1A hooked up to SDA 1. The M2A was rated at a 4 ohm load minimum, so we tried it anyway. Low volumes it worked fine, but at higher volumes the tweeters distorted and the amp protection kicked in. I needed an amp that could handle a 1 ohm load. So I sold the M2A and purchase a Adcom.

Yes, too bad it's a dual mono design.

Really,, I thought twice about posting it because of the possibility of the dual mono config,,but I thought nah,, could'nt be--that one flew by me--thanks for pointing that out. So,one would have to use the AI-1 or strap the grounds--if appropriate,, yes?:o
