Question about bi-amping the RTi-A9's.

I know that the bottom posts are for the three 7" bass drivers. What I am not sure about is the the top posts. I know they go to the tweeter, but I am wondering if they go to the 5 ¼" mid range drivers as well. I am going to be sending 80 watts to each set of posts, and I think that 80 watts seems fine for the 7's, and maybe to much for just the one tweeter. However if the top posts do power the 5 ¼" mid range drivers and the tweeter I think it could sound great. Just looking for some conformation on the wiring set up. Thanks everyone.

I do not own a set so i can not answer if it powers just the tweeter or the tweeter and the mids but regardless 80 watts is NOT too much. At 80 watts you'd be more than fine even if you had 80 watts for each driver itself.

I'm running RTi12s, the previous version of the A9, and put 425 watts into each post, so I'm pretty sure you'll be OK with 80.

Welcome to the forum! Hang around for a while.

The power involved to drive a bass unit normally is WAY more power than the tweeters use. So with a normal sounding drive balance, you'll be putting a LOT more power to the bass side.

If your using a multi-channel amp, set the gain to each section the same for starters, which you probably won't want to adjust much if any, and the actual power you'll be applying will be fine for the tweeters.

Remember that 80 watts isn't a ton so don't try to run to the max. You can damage quicker with under power than with over power.

The top posts run the one tweeter and dual 5 1/4 drivers. 80 watts is not too much, actually you might want to add a little more power.

More power is almost always better, especially on a set like the a9's ;) 80w is nothing for them. I noticed a very BIG improvement when i switched from AVR power to separate power, my AVR is no slouch but the a9's LOVE the juice :D

I'm looking forward to bi-wiring mine with some mono block's that are on their way to me :D

I have the RTi12's for my HT and I have to say that when I changed from even a high power AVR to some 350 watt carver's i noticed a big change. I even bi-amped with 2 M1.5ts (350 watts x 2) and did notice crisper highs. But if you want an all in one amp like how I decided to go after the carvers. You cant go wrong with the new Sunfire gear. I have a 400x7 Sunfire amp and it sounds great.
If life had more tubes it would be a lot smoother.
