I am trying to id a polk tweeter I have. It was in one of the speakers I bought but is not an original tweeter for that model speaker. It has the same frame style as the SL2000. However, it is a shiny black colored textile softdome. It has no markings other than saying polk audio around the front in a circular pattern. Can someone tell me the model number of this tweeter and any particulars about it. I am considering replacing the SL2000s in my SRSs with this tweeter.

Sounds like the RD0-194, the new and more desirable replacement for the SL2000.

Which model speaker did you buy that this came in?
Which model SRS do you have?

It also fits the description of the SL2500, which is not designed to work in any SDA speaker. I'm not sure how to tell the difference between the SL2500 and the newer RD0194-1. Perhaps someone else will chime in on that.

Would the SL2500 have a label? The RDO194-1 does not.

The face plates are textured differently and the SL2500 seems to be a little more refined in the manufacturing but it is hard to describe. The easiest way to tell is that the SL2500 has a foam ring around the dome, the RDO-194 does not.

It looks like my mystery speaker may be an RDO 198. I have SL2500s in my 1Cs but I know it is not a 2500 since the 2500 is not a textile dome.

Also the magnet/pole piece assy is held on with torx head screws in the 2500....the RDO's use philips head screws.

From the pics, the 2500 also appears to stick out a bit more-more rounded, where the 194 is closer to flat.

While where at it---what does the 198 look like? Or should I say, how can it be identified or differentiated from the 194?

Does it have foam ring around the dome between the dome and the bezel? If so it's either a sl2500 or sl3000. Many of the sl3000's are actually a copper or gold tint to the dome.

If it has a dark black dome and no foam it's the newer RD0194-1 or RD0198-1 tweeter.

The spade terminals are different sizes for one model and the other model has the same size spade terminals. I forget which is which. IIRC, the 198-1 has the same size spade terminals and the 194-1 has one large and one small spade terminal.
