Hey all. I just picked up some 1.2 TL's from a great guy in CT! I drove 4.5 hours to and from and they are awesome! The speakers are in overall great condition however, the third tweeter down on both channels isn't producing sound that I can tell!! Is there something I am missing:confused:? They are connected so I am assuming they are blown which would be an easy fix but I just wanted to check with all of you first.

I got them for my father to replace his 2.3's ( which I still have to fix ) and we are realizing that bi-amping these speakers is going to have to happen at some point. we are currently running them off an NAD 218 THX which is great but I think we need two. Any advice from those of you who have more knowledge of these beasts is greatly appreciated.

I will post pictures asap!

happy holidays,

You got them the correct way. One should always drive at least 3 hours so that the owner can't follow you when he changes his mind.

Get a VOM and disconnnect the tweeters. Check the ohm reading across the terminals. That will tell you if they are blown or not. There may be some spare 3000 tweeters here or on Ebay. You could replace all of them with the RDO from Polk, albeit an expensive option.

You need power to make them sing. Separate amps is the best way. An AVR will blow the tweeters through distortion if you push it.

yes, I drove as fast as I could! He asked $1500 and I could only offer $1,250, he was great and accepted. I suspect they are blown and will replace them with RDOs if that is the case.

    Thanks

The better the power you send to them, and of course the better the source material(SDA's love vinyl) the better they will sound. Mine loved to be pushed hard, but also did quite well at lower volumes.

Congrats, i bought a pair on Ebay, in Phoeinx on the weekend. My friend who lives there picked them up today. They are only 1700 miles away from home. Enjoy. I will have to wait a while to enjoy mine. Winter holiday trip after Christmas to get them.
