"you've gone too far, you never fix nothing"...i got all back together...3 extra screws and some plastic thing...but IT WORKS! a great feeling of pride i just had to share! thanks:)

What's the model number on that? There's a few models that are just hideous in the way that they jam up cds in the back corners.... i happen to have one. I hate it with the passion of a thousand fiery suns.

    Want to fix mine?

i guess that should read: everything you've ever tried to fix has wound up either permenantly broken or at the repair shop..that should clear up any grammar issues;)

not sure of the model #..i've heard horror stories though...i've been very lucky! i've had it since Christmas 2000! once in a while it has a reading issue. overall, it's been trouble free

Mine always reads fine... but when it's moving from disk to disk, at least once a week it tries to double load or something... It's infuriating, because then i have to empty it and fix it, then reload it. Fun fun!

Maybe it's just a sign for me to get with the times and rip them all and grab a squeezebox. :p

Can we have a Sony vs. Emotiva thread? :D

I would love to try their ES gear, some of their funky square driver speakers just 'cuz, and maybe those weird high end speakers that they made like 500 of in halfway recent history.

However, this changer is the only thing from them that i've ever had an issue with...

Oh my, I have had clocks that randomly change time, or randomly have the alarm go off. I had a car unit that would some times read cd, some times not, then just quit working. A camcorder that just stopped working, it would power up, but that was it. A cd changer that would eat cds. A boom box that just stopped working for no reason.

That IS the weird thing about sony, and i'm not defending them in any way, trust me...

But the people that have one thing go wrong with any of their Sony stuff tend to get shat on, and EVERYTHING breaks, or there's the other people that NONE of it ever breaks.

    Strange, to be sure. :)

I'd image some of that is due to user error. I'm pretty sure I'm not one of them. Every thing I have owned from Sony I have also owned other brands and had not had a problem(with the exception of an Apex DVD player)

Its always nice to overcome isnt it? I see people every day who are paralyzed by fear of the unknown, completely stymied by the smallest mechanical or electrical device it makes me wonder at times how many would survive if left to there own means and wits if there was some nuclear disaster or plauge and there were only 1 out of a 100,000 people left and there was no more electricity or fuel oil etc especially up here where the cold can kill you.

    REGARDS SNOW
Well, I just pulled off the impossible by doing a double-blind comparison all by myself, purely by virtue of the fact that I completely and stupidly forgot what I did last. I guess that getting old does have its advantages after all :D

    Mike, congrats on the repair!

I must say, I agree. I have had several Sony CD players and all had door or read problems. Had 2 Sony MD players that failed within 1 year. Had a Sony walkman CD once that took a crap. The only Sony products I have owned and still work are a preamp and my PSP.

    Oh well....getting off topic I guess. :D

Too true - Sony products have failed me often.....

Congrats to the OP on his triumphant success.
