Some DSW Pro Subwoofer Hookup Questions . . .

Right now, here's my HT:

I currently have a splitter for the subs through the LFE out. Would it be better if I used the left and right outs, set the speakers to Large, and used the crossover to tune it to about 60Hz? Also, am I ok using the autosetup from the receiver for the subs. Or should I use the Polk Mic auto setup as well?
Right now my system sounds pretty damn good. I am more than satisfied and even surprised by the quality. I guess it's time I start tinkering to see what sounds better. Will using the preouts be safe for the subs assuming I got the crossover engaged properly?
