Well as is tradition - we went and picked out our tree (and cut it down) the Sat. after Thanksgiving this year.

I have been working out a lot lately and am down about 35# since July. I just could not understand why the tree was giving me so much trouble this year dragging it to the front of the Christmas tree farm and getting it in the house. It was just ridiculously heavy....

When we got it in the house and it hit the chandelier it all started to become clear.... We are looking at 14' this year - our largest ever (in a stand rated for a 10' tree). It ended up looking pretty nice though. (With a little help from 1,600 LED lights and every ornament that we had...)

So, what did YOU end up with this year?

Always wanted one of the big ones like that.Just no room in the house. I guess I could put one in my man-cave speaker shack one year down the road. I should have enough space next yr.
    Beautiful job with the lights!

I'll try to post our front yard lit-up with the white deers and trees. It kinda gives me the winter wonderland feel. We don't see the snow too often here.

We used to have vaulted ceilings in our livingroom when we lived in Seattle, so we used to do the u-cut thing and bring home 11 or 12" noble firs.

I got our ready to assemble fake noble fir out of the garage today
My equipment sig felt inadequate and deleted itself.

Looks like the elephant likes it.

We used to do the big tree thing in our first house, where we had cathedral ceilings, 16' tall and the tree would be 14' to 15' tall. Our last house just had regular 8' ceilings, so we still cut a tree in the national forest, but just little ones. Now we are spending our 3rd Christmas in a rental, but we are FINALLY getting our dream home built, and next year we will have the most massive tree yet! We will have about 25' from the floor in the great room up to the ceiling where the tree will sit (it is 29' to the peak in the center, but the fireplace will be there, and the loft above means we have to put the tree a bit to one side). I don't think they make a tree stand for a tree of that size, but we always roped it to the walls to keep it upright. We can't wait!

Anyway, for this year we are using the artificial I got a few years ago for the office, but have since replaced there with a taller one. It looks good, but next year, look out!

for about the last 4 or 5 years my company has been doing this for a small handfull of customers. Its a royal pita but what the hay, we charge an hourly rate for the bucket truck and operator. this particular tree takes almost 3 hrs with 600 lights and the star coming from 2 different circuits out of the house

!4' is a huge tree! I have 8' ceilings in a rancher and that tree is taller than my entire house! Looks very nice. I plug in my tabletop fiber optic tree and have a light up wreath on the front door.

My dad actually got a tree for me this year, since a friend of his has a large wooded area that is full of "christmas"-like trees so it was free. It's a much more "natural" looking tree than I usually get (and a bit wider than I would prefer considering the size of my room) but I like it. Hasn't been decorated yet; I'll post some pics when I get around to it :)
If you will it, dude, it is no dream.

cnh, I know HK is a long trip for you but if you have the time and opportunity to get there before Christmas you should try. Canton Street over in Kowloon Has HUGE Christmas themed light decorations on many of the buildings, and of course there is HK central and shopping.

Christmas Eve and the tree's up, kid's in bed, and Santa is done. Time for a libation and relaxation.

Merry Christmas to all, have great, and safe day for those that are traveling in rough conditions.
