I want to archive some vhs and mini dv tapes to dvd. The mini dv tapes are no problem as my pc has firewire connections but I have no composite or s video connections for the vhs tapes.
I was wondering if anyone had any experience or recommendations on a video capture card. I am running Vista 64. Thanks!

Just get a dvd player that records. Might be easier, and you'll actually use it for more than just transferring media."They who can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety."

I don't really want another component and I will probably want to do a little editing so a dvd recorder is out of the picture.
The ATI solution looks pretty nice. The all in wonder doesn't offer much over my current vid card so I think I will just get the TV Wonder version instead. Plus I can get the VisionTek version off Amazon for $44 right now, so the price is right.
Any ideas for a 3rd party software solution for vid capture/conversion? The Catalyst software included with the card doesn't seem to garner much praise."The secret of happiness is freedom. The secret of freedom is courage." Thucydides -
Yeah, the ATI All-In-Wonder cards were my pick for years.-Kevin

I used a Dazzle Instant DVD Recorder from Pinnacle but I ran it on XP 32-bit. It was simple & cheap ($40 @ BB). I wasn't crazy about the DVD burning engine so I just captured to disk but other than that, it worked fine.Sony 60'' SXRD 1080p
