New subwoofer recommendations?

Hi folks. I currently have a Polk RM6750 subwoofer which came with a home stereo set. The back says its 100 watts. Receiver is Yamaha RX-V465. I'm looking to get a better subwoofer but not sure what is good and what is not. Just look for higher wattage? Sometimes I hear the sub go past its limits and it kind of sounds bad so I want to improve this. Just looking to upgrade. Thanks. Does not have to be Polk necessarily.

I'm looking to spend about 100-150 if possible. Color would be black. Uses would be mainly home theater. No size limitations for the sub itself really. Room size is about 15x17. Thanks

Welcome to CP FR, sorry I can't be much help, because I am not familiar with the sub you have. Speaking in very general terms, most subs that come with a package like that are not overly capable subs. So there is probably lots of room for improvement. The budget you give is very limiting in what you can get and probably would only be a small improvement if at all. With some luck and patience, you may be able to do it on the used market. My advice since you have a sub (even if it is not impressing you) is save up some more money. It will give you many more choices and some real improvement.

I agree with you. Definitely limited budget right now. My current sub is 8" and pretty weak I think. It's okay but I need some small improvement for the meantime. I want to redo my whole speaker setup once I get a better job.

I agree with Apphd. The budget that you have is very low and i dont think that you will be able to get much of an improvement over what you have now. I would look at polk direct and see if you could get a psw10, it might be an improvement. You will be able to get a better deal if you look on craigslist or other used places.
If you save a little more like say a total of $200-250 then you will get a noticeable upgrade from what you have now. You could get one the better polks or possibly something from BIC or the pa-120. There are also some decent velodynes in this range.

Alright let's say I had around $200. What are these velodynes you speak of? Which particular one? I see that you have the PSW110. How do you like that? -
Went with the Acoustic Audio HD-SUB10 10".
