I've received the RC 50 from the good people @ Vann's before the holliday.
It seems to me the RC50 speakers are not coherent at all. Mid-range is warm and huge and the low end is good BUT the hi-freq is kind of roll-off quite a bit comparing to my 10 years old Mirage RFX7.

The dual 6 1/2 mid bass Kevlar drivers could be a culprit by design. For 2 channel listening at loud level, the RC50s are nice but at moderate to low level listening, I have a feeling as having a blanket over the tweeters (l/R).

I have these packed and sent back to Vann's at a quite expensive shipping charge for an in home audition. :(

I don't think you allowed enough break in time if you've already sent them back.

The Energy RC and Connoisseur lines have a laid back treble that takes a little getting used to--you'll greatly appreciate it with digital sources if you give them some time to grow on you.

I have to admit that at little louder than moderate level of listening, the mid-range is awesome that remind me of the old PSB stratus: warm and huge.

One of the main reason I have them sent back to Vann's is the vocal kept on tilting a bit to one of the speaker. I have the speakers switched around and it still has the same result. When I replaced them with my 10 years old Mirage RFX7, the vocal was dead in the center and the sound was a bit brighter and more detail to my liking .

I am not quite sure the vocal slightly tilting to one speaker would be corrected after 100 hours break-in or not, so I spent $140.00 something on shipping and they are on the way back to Vann's. I should have done is to order the RC30 with small mid-bass driver then the intergration between the tweeters and the mid-bass drivers may be more coherent.
