Settle a debate for us please.

Is this phrase correct / is the word skeptical being used properly?......


"The play calling at the end of the game was skeptical"

    That is incorrect. You can be skeptical OF the play calling, but the play calling being skeptical would imply some sort of sentience or conscious thought on the part of the play calling.

    No... skeptical is not being used properly.

    Being used in the right manner:

    "I am skeptical of the correct usage of that word in your sentence."

    +1 Awkward and inappropriate usage...sounds like some of my students over here...Sentences written by non-native English Speakers!!

    Gotta agrees with ya!

    I am trying to fix an old Denon amp with the help of Denon's Service Manual. But I am a little lost in translation since it seems to be interpreted from Japan to German and then to English. LOL
    Trying out Different Audio Cables is a Religious Affair. You don't discuss it with anyone. :redface::biggrin:
