Was at a friends house and spotted a old receiver sitting there.
I ask what are you doing with that and he said take it home or
its going in the trash. Its a old yamaha CR-820 a sticker on the
back says 1978. Its a BIG old thing but sounds great. He said he
paid big bucks for it back in the day.Not sure what i'm going to do
with it but it sure has a smooth sound and powerful.

Very nice receiver; middle of that model line. (CR-220,420,620,820,1020,2020... there was also a 3020 but it came a little later and was a monstrous and rare beast)
I don't know what you're gonna do with it, either :-)
Perhaps, like me, pile it in the basement with its kin?
The late-1970s Yamaha stereo equipment (amps and receivers, and some of their tuners) was, in my not even close to humble opinion, among the best massmarket Japanese equipment ever exported to the US. -

The only problem i found so far is the lights for the meters
are not working. I had to look inside just for the hell of it.
The function knobs have drive shafts with u-joints going
to the back where the pots are. Very dusty inside.
