PSW 10 LFE hookup

Hi all-

I have read here that it is best to use both inputs on the subwoofer, by means of using a Y jack. I am waiting on the sub to arrive, and want to buy this Y jack before it gets here. My problem is that I do not know the configuration of the jack itself. Are there 3 male adapters, or 2 male 1 female? Is there a best kind to buy i.e. gold connectors, wire type etc.? The dummy at best buy sold me 2 Yjacks that connect to each other, for a total of 40 bucks, is he correct?

The outputs are summed together in the sub. Feeding both inputs with a Y adapter from the LFE output will do nothing.

This is a post from Polk Tech, which is what I read:


"All you would need to do is connect the single sub-woofer output, of the receiver, to either the right or left input on the sub-woofer (the sub-woofer's bass amplifier adds the two channels together so a connection to either one is fine). Or, if you prefer, you may use a "Y" cable to provide a connection to both inputs on the sub-woofer. While this doesn't change the sound quality it will allow the sub-woofer to play louder at each of it's volume control positions."

But what will that change? The sub will bottom out long before max setting on the volume control either way.

Watcher, connecting both of the sub inputs does feed voltage into both and results in a slightly higher volume level for a given setting of the receiver sub output control, but this is at most a minor benefit. Your receiver almost certainly can supply plenty of voltage into one input. Use the single input and return the Y connectors for a refund.
