Marantz 7001 HDMI Receiver

My bedroom is trending toward a clean and uncluttered viewing area... so all freestanding speakers are gone and therefore no need for amplification or processing.
What I'm actually leaning towards is the Polk Audio SDA SurroundBar... (Does anyone know if we can get a hookup being Club Polk members?) Just need to figure out the best way to convert digital->analog from the TV's optical output.
This receiver retailed for $1399, and is a BEAST. I have the original box and packaging, remote, and mic. With 4 HDMI inputs, it's well equipped for pretty much any theater. Also has 7.1 analog in, and is THX Select2 certified.
It's in excellent shape! There's a little tack on the screen left over from an IR sender (should come off with some goo gone or something) and one very fine rubbing of the black finish on an edge. Consider this an EASY 8/10 condition. Photos to come on demand.
$380 + shipping
And yes, that's your deep discount Polkie Price.

Ron dislikes a film = go out and buy it.
Ron loves a film = don't even rent. -
AVR still available... Ron changed his mind.

What are you goling to power the SBar with?CTC BBQ Amplifier, Sonic Frontiers Line3 Pre-Amplifier and Wadia 581 SACD player. Speakers? Always changing but for now, Mission Argonauts I picked up for $50 bucks, mint.

The 'SDA Surround Bar' (IHT) is what I think he is referring to Mark.,Check your lips at the door woman. Shake your hips like battleships. Yeah, all the white girls trip when I sing at Sunday service.

I'm not sold 100% on any bar yet, but the IHT is certainly the easiest. There's also the 360, though I don't really need a DVD player. The 42" would also fit nicely, but I'd be back to needing a receiver.
I respect your opinion on the bars, Mark. Would you PM me with your preferences/input? -
Dane, I have a question about this one. If you run HDMI out of the cable box into the receiver, and then HDMI from the receiver to the TV, can you still watch TV without the receiver being turned on? Please clear that up for me.
Yes I am interested.
Thanks, Eric. -
Good question. I'll check it out tonight.

Eric,
In order to pass video/audio from through AVR to the TV, the receiver needs to be turned on. Seems to me that would be necessary in all AVRs, but I'm not entirely sure. Let me know if you'd like to proceed... -
Nice receiver, GREAT deal...Sounds like spring cleaning a bit early there.
Something your buyers might want to know is what version those HDMI are.....
Most HDMI from 1.1 after will allow (if they are repeaters) anyone whose BDP player can decode HD-sound sources and send it as multi PCM over HDMI.
Your unit probably is good to go on that, but it would help with the sale, IMO, to specify.
Good Luck with the sale....Marantz AVRs are a musical sounding receivers with plenty of High Current for HT demands.

You're correct, thanks for the point. The Marantz is equipped with HDMI spec 1.1, so your player can decode the new audio formats and send it via Linear PCM to take advantage of HD Audio.

I will pass.

Good luck with the sale. -

Does the ps3 decode the audio formats this way?
The old PS3 fat can only send HD audio this way (via PCM over HDMI)
The new PS3 Slim can do both bitstream and PCM over HDMI -

Shipping should be TOO bad... having the original box helps reduce cost. Maybe $30-35?
Thanks for the feedback guys. Hopefully someone can enjoy this.
I forgot to mention... this was purchased in April and I have the original receipt. Box says it has a 1 yr warranty, so you should still have coverage from Marantz through a good amount of 2010. -
Does this one decode all the lossless formats?

I will buy it if you would accept a paypal payment. (I don't mind paying the PP fee.) I can provide very positive references from AC and/or Agon if you like.
I'm new here and not a regular Polkie but I have given the vets plenty of time to snap this one up. -
