Has anyone has any experience with one of these?

http://www.apc.com/products/apcav/products/index.cfm?action=detail&base_sku=S15BLK

I think I got a pretty good deal.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=150390741687&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT#ht_500wt_1182

For the price I though I'd try it out.

I measured the THD of my HT outlets and all I have is 3.5% and 2.5% on the third harmonic which doesn't seem too bad.

Do they work the same as the S15 sans the battery?

I believe they do... Don't quote me, though. I don't know a whole lot about these things, other than that they were recommended to me, and i know what the sonic differences were.

    Hi wetcoast,
Would you please let me know how has the S15blk performed for your system? My set was almost like yours, and I have a good lead to acquire the S15blk for $250, which made me very interested in getting it.

I've had pretty good results with it. I can't say I've done any A vs. B tests but it is good piece of mind for component protection, power conditioning and has the added bonus of a battery back-up.

I was of the opinion that power conditioners are similar to snake oil. I'm still not convinced but for what I paid it was a no brainer.

FWIW, a set of good replacement batteries is worth about $150. Which, from the looks of the price you're getting it for, will be necessary. If I were you go to your local battery shop and ask for 12V 9.0 Ah valve regulated battery pricing. You will need a quantity of four. These are common UPS battery replacements.

You got an outstanding deal. I have one of these units and it has worked flawlessly for us. We do have frequent power outages and this has allowed my electronics to shut down seemlessly as well as protected them from voltage spikes. great buy....
