Just purchased Polk speakers
I finally took the plunge and am replacing all of my current HT speakers. Right now I have 2 old floor-standing Technics (3 way, 10") for front L&R and JBL center and surrounds. They are all about 15 years old and it was time.
I got some great deals on some discontinued Polk speakers from Newegg. Here's what I ended up with after much searching, reading and comparing.
PWS 505 Sub
Monitor 60 Front L&R
CS1 Center
RCi60 Rear and Side Surround (4 total)
The RCi60s have arrived, but the rest is still on the way. I actually purchased the Monitor 70s and was going to see how they sounded without a sub, but then I saw the deal on the 505 and canceled the 70s and got the 60s instead. Figured with all the base the 505 can put out and setting the crossover at 80Hz using the LFE input that I wouldn't need the 70s and saved a bunch of bucks, almost enough to pay for the sub.
Anyway, I am very excited and am anticipating an outstanding listening experience. The RCi60s will go perfect in my living room. I have vaulted ceilings and they come down at a 45 degree angle, so the RCi60s will be pointing directly at the main listening area. I am going to build boxes for them between the studs, as well.
I will be pushing all of these with a Pioneer VSX-816 7.1 100w/channel receiver. It's a few years old but still kicks and with the sub amp handling all of the lows, there will be more then enough power to push all of the speakers.
I am pumped. By this time next week I might be deaf.

Welcome to CP!
I also like the assignable optical inputs. I briefly considered replacing it, but the only thing I would gain would be HDMI and I don't need to use it as a video switch anyway; I would lose a whole lot of audio inputs/outputs unless going with a much more expensive unit. -
Thanks for the warm welcome, everyone. I will definitely take some pics of the install and share them with y'all. I still can't get over the savings. I like good sound but I have always had to get my equipment within a budget and speakers can get damn expensive real quick. I think I will like this setup as much or more then the EVs I had back in the 70/80s and way more then what I have now.

Nice choices...PSW505 will do what you need it to...the Pioneer does have enough power for the 60s, etc. And has decent sound as well.
Enjoy your new system....
