Cable Elevators

The newest Mobile Fidelity catalog arrived yesterday and I'm perusing it between eating massive amounts of food, watching football and visiting with friends, family and my 4 kids boyfriends/girlfriend.
At one point the conversation turned to, "So Dad, what's on your Christmas list" and the Precision Audio Products Cable Elevators + at $20 each came to mind.
Does anyone out there use PAP (or other) band cable elevators?

Shoot jerryj12 a pm,, he builds his own.Pretty cool too.JC approves....he told me so. (F-1 nut)

I was given some by Frank @ Signal Cable. I don't believe they change anything sonically but rather than stick them in a box, I use them. It makes vaccuming around my cables easier.....CTC BBQ Amplifier, Sonic Frontiers Line3 Pre-Amplifier and Wadia 581 SACD player. Speakers? Always changing but for now, Mission Argonauts I picked up for $50 bucks, mint.

I agree, I don't think they really do anything except keep your cables off the floor and perhaps cleaner.Home:

I think it really depend's on what type of flooring your wire's are laying on If you have carpet or something that can transmit static electricity i think they could be beneficial, i would however make my own instead of paying out the nose for someone else to make 'em

Good points. I guess I will do what I always do:
-- Gather varied opinions
-- Learn what gear is available
-- Buy (or make) the best I can afford
-- Get my ears on it for a hundred hours or so
-- Make a decision for myself
-- Share my findings
-- Keep the gear if I like it
-- Sell or karma the gear if I decide it's not right for meVTL ST50 w/mods / RCA6L6GC / TlfnknECC801S

Yeah - I alweays thought it might be cool to assemble a collection of vintage glass insulators off eBay and use them as speaker cable elevators which would be at least pretty interesting conservation pieces  -

At $15 each they are a bit more affordable than the ceramic models.

It's got little to do with banning IS, and he won't be, at least Gavin asked ahead of time. I was being a little sarcastic and actually agree with you.
The dude probably works for that company and was doing search engine research to find where his target audience gathers.
On one hand it seems shady, but on the other I did not know of this design and I am moderately interested to learn as much as possible about both the original ceramic versions and other competing materials.
I emailed them for a Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) to learn if they are made out of fresh urethane resin, our out of my old boot soles and discarded milk cartons from the landfill. :eek:VTL ST50 w/mods / RCA6L6GC / TlfnknECC801S

Yep. He did even figure how to nicely pack the title with keywords describing the item for search engine retrieval.
It's just too bad he wasn't intelligent enough to use the right form of "their" in the body of his post.VTL ST50 w/mods / RCA6L6GC / TlfnknECC801S

We have a "Recycle Energy" facility close by that was instrumental in inventing the "Trex" lumber substitute now used to replace treated wood for decks, picnic tables. etc. The polymer industry here with its roots dating back to the heyday of the original Big 3 rubber companies is still relatively active.
I was not being facetious about the desire to see the MSDS. Is your product made from recycled materials or not?
P.S.: . . . out "there" ("their" showing "possession" and "there" showing "position").VTL ST50 w/mods / RCA6L6GC / TlfnknECC801S

So your product is recycled material or not?
I sent you the MSDS per your request and I did not mislead you. Did you check it out?
The product is made from a product called Smooth-Cast ONYX made by Smooth-On. It is not recycled material, I was being facetious.
I'm aware of the Trex lumber, have installed it several times. Great product in my opinion.
Thanks for the vocab lesson, I assume you've not made any typos in any of your posts.
Seriously though, not looking to make enemies here or offend anyone. I will stay away from these parts.

P.S. I am an avid mountain biker though and will check out your products, maybe you'll be getting some of my business in the near future when things warm up a bit. -

I'm not a moderator, but the forum gets so much spam that I typically tend to put a pretty good shot across the bow to see what happens when the intent of a 1st post is so obvious. I have some fairly decent gear and am trying to figure out if elevators will actually help sound quality, or just look really cool to party guests.
I did start this thread to learn as much as I can about cable elevators because I've found Club Polk members to have a depth of audio related knowledge that is deeper than anywhere else I've found on the internet.
Sounds like welcome aboard is more in order. Stick around if you have any Polk or other audio related questions and you'll have your audio master's degree before you know it.
Greg
P.S.: I just found the MSDS email and am quite impressed that you responded so quickly and professionally. I'm also happy to see the compound is manufactured in PA.VTL ST50 w/mods / RCA6L6GC / TlfnknECC801S

Well thanks for the warm welcome!
Tell you what, if your interested I will send you a set to try out in your system. Take all the time you need. If you like them then we can talk about a purchase, if not then just send them back.
Can always use a good testimonial, provided you like them.
I have been into high end audio for years and like to tweek. I built a makeshift set of elevators last year and felt that I noticed a difference in my system. They are a controversial product, cable lifts or elevators, but some really believe in them. Like myself. I decided to create my own design and here I am, trying to create some buzz. I've been working on some speakers with the guys over at the Frugal-Horn Website, in a few months I will have some for sale on RhythmiCraft.com as well. -

The 6moons.com website publisher Srajan Ebaan was nice enough to mention the Cable Arches in his news section.
The arches are made right here in Northern Virginia!
I sent you a reply email btw.
