For calendar year 2009, between The Polk Audio Forum and AudioKarma, checks made out directly to Githens total $3,074. This figure does not include what I'm sure was a generous donation from Wendi and Troy's '09 PolkFest.

Checks made out to me that were not used to perpetuate Project X in one form or another, were deposited into the account I created just for this purpose. At present, that account has $3,120 in it. Nearer to Christmas I will write Githens a check for the amount in the account, minus $5 to keep the account active.

Last year's check was for $2,100, so as you can see, I have plenty to be thankful for in 2009. And 2009 isn't over yet.

Thank you!

BTW you might want to contact Wendi, she called me asking for some information as she was at the post office mailing the polkfest check to you, that was the Monday or Tuesday after PF09, what I'm saying is you should have it by now.

    George,

Can you explain, to those of us that are not familiar, what Githens is and how we might contribute?

George, Can you explain, to those of us that are not familiar, what Githens is and how we might contribute?

The Githens Center for the Handicapped is a school for handicapped children in the town next to mine. In addition to the school, they also provide adult day care, and after school respite for the handicapped. Alternate Saturdays they also provide day care for the handicapped, allowing parents to attend to normal needs unburdened.

The profits from my vinyl and audio sales go to Githens. The reason some checks are written directly to Githens and appear to be donations is simple. Some people, over the years, have spent so much money here, that allowing them to write a check directly to Githens and not to me, makes the entire purchase tax deductible. I can probably name four or five members here at Polk, who have come damn close to spending $1,000 EACH if not more on vinyl. These kind of customers you want to take care of anyway you can, hence the policy. I'd like to do it for everybody, but if all checks were made out to Githens, operating funds would dry up pretty quickly.

I like the idea of providing what I see as a service for this, so I don't solicit/accept blind donations, as kind as people are to offer them. If someone has no use for vinyl or has no audio needs at the moment, and needs to lose some cash and wants to feel good about it, Muscular Dystrophy, the SPCA, Doctors Without Borders, etc. are all wonderful organizations that are constantly short of bucks.

    Santa sees that **** Joe.

Mike, you don't have to pledge a dime! No josh man. You buy so much vinyl it's not funny. WTF do you think your money goes? Additional pledges are NOT necessary. Thanks.

Blind pledges from ANYBODY are not required. I sell this stuff and give them the money. That's good enough. Help out the homeless, or the poor Africans, or a whole bunch of others. It's also money well spent.
