I watched it this weekend with my 15 yr old daughter. She loves to be scared. My soon-to-be 12 yr old son wanted nothing to do with it - the thought of it was too scary for him, yet he plays Call of Duty non-stop... As far as language goes, both of them always tell me, "It's nothing we don't hear on the bus every day..."

P.S. You don't have one listed, but please say you have a decent sub! That's what provides all the tension!

I have two powered subs in each of the RT2000Ps. Whether you think that is decent or not I don't know. However I can tell you this, those babies have rattled all kinds of things off shelves in rooms at the other end of the house as well as have had the neighbors comment in a sarcastic way, "sounds good" LOL!!!

You'll be fine, I'm sure. It's not the lowest of the lows, but a constant rumbling in the LFE track that occurs during the more intense scenes... Despite the negativity in a lot of the reviews, I think the movie was fairly well done. It's not supposed to have some deep meaning, and wasn't suited to over-the-top effects... just a guy filming the weird things occurring in his house. Enjoy!

I liked this one FAR FAR FAR better than Avatar.

It was SO much more believable.

I wish the demon would have come and dragged the blue people away screaming...and all the humans too. ;)

I honestly don't see how you can even compare the two films, there way to different to do so. Comparing it to The Blair Witch Project would be a bit more realistic.

Ron loves a film = don't even rent.

Naw. Avatar was a complete bore start to finish. Paranormal, on the other hand, was mush better film making IMHO. Sorry to say, James Cameron won't be getting any more of my dollars this round either.

Paranormal is on the list - but have to figure out how to get it and hide it in the back of the DVD cabinet...the fiance got so scared watching it the first time she's threatened to withhold good food (or worse!) if I bring it home! LOL

Okay, my wife and I just got this in from Netflix. We are debating as to whether we should let our newly turned 13 year old watch it. He loves this scary stuff.

    However I have a few of questions for those who have seen it;

Is there any nudity in this flick?

Is the hype about it causing "nightmares" true?

    How's the shock-you-out-of-your-chair moments?

If you had a 13 year old boy, would you let him watch it?

Our philosophy is to never let our boy watch 'R' flicks until he is at the proper age. But seeing that he loves this crap, we are willing to make an exception if I can get some answers to the above questions.

    Thanks for your input folks.

One suggestion for the movie reviewers here. When something is rated 'R' it might help to describe why the 'R' rating in detail like they do on the outer box that comes with the flick.

    'Impaired:

While I saw this in theaters, hence the angle of the review, I haven't had a chance to review it on home video because I have been just so swamped with this move to the new house. It's on my "buy cheap" list though, regardless of whether it was assigned to me or not to review.

That said, I don't think this isn't a film for your kids not to see; there is tension and "terror" during the sequences that the couple are going to sleep each night and the creaks in the houses grow ominous, but aside from these elements and the demon-esque ending, I don't think this would be a problem for little ones.

    Just my two cents.

It seems this movie is not too liked here. I thought it was scary as crap, and I know if my wife watched it, she would never sleep again. FYI, both my wife and I are not into the genre (I love it, but usually don't handle it well if you get my drift :)

No nightmares, but I was spooked! Maybe scary was the word, but someone used 'terror'. My daughter is a little over 2 years old, so I can't tell you waht to do. The language wasn't over the top, no nudity, no gore.

    Good luck :)

I liked it, it was creepy with a few bumps and bangs along the way. What ruined the film for me was the last 60 seconds.

Eh, this movie was a complete waste of time. Not in the least bit scary. They tried so so hard to suck you, but it just failed.

Sorry guys, this is one that I wasted money on in the "Big Screen" to get really scared.. and it was a huge let down. Stupid ending. Just a waste.
