Power for LSi9's
If I plug my LSi9's into my Emo XPA-3 will it screw up my speakers? The LSi9's are rated for up to 200W and the XPA-3 puts out 300W into 4 ohms. So...is the XPA-3 too much power for the LSi9's? I have read some guys say you can't over power a speaker, but you can certainly under power one. I understand clipping well enough. I am now just worried about over powering by 50%!

As long as you don't listen at concert levels, you should be fine."He who fights with monsters should look to it that he himself does not become a monster. And when you gaze long into an abyss the abyss also gazes into you." Friedrich Nietzsche

You won't have a problem imo.
Just because you've got them hooked up to the amp, it doesn't mean your speakers are seeing 300 watts at all times/at all volumes.
I haven't heard LSi's, but I would assume your ears would run out on you before those speakers get loud enough to even see 250watts as you're turning it up. Like I mentioned though, it's about how loud you're playing it that'll determine how much power they'll see.Truck setup

You aren’t feeding the speakers 300 watts, the rating on your amp means you have 300 watts available should it be required. The more watts your amp can pump out the more headroom you will have, which is a good thing. I'm sure that amp will be just fine and dandy for a pair of 9's, turn'em up and enjoy!Mains - Vienna Acoustics Mozart Grand

I'm running a pair of LSi9s with an XPA-5 rated at IIRC 450 wpc into 2 channels at 4 ohms. It's nice.

I've heard rumors that the LSi9's can dip to 2ohms..........you should have no problems... enjoy! BTW mine are getting 385 per channel for the mid-bass and 200 per channel for the tweets....from two Parasound amps..:D"The good thing about science is that it's true whether or not you believe in it." I have the LSi 9's and have been struggling with sound when I play music. I've been doing a lot of reading to try and figure this out and it was suggested that because the 9's are rated at 4ohms, they are not an ideal match for most amps, receiver, etc. I'm wondering if this is the case with mine. I have an Onkyo TX-SR701 and am wondering if it's not compatible.
Based on the Onkyo website, here are the specs:
Power Specifications
Power Output* (8 ohm, 20 Hz-20 kHz, FTC) -
Front L/R 100 W/Ch
6 ohm Capable -
4 ohm Capable -
Center 100 W
Surround L/R 100 W/Ch
Surround Back 100 W
Dynamic Power** -
3 ohm (Front) 230 W/Ch
4 ohm (Front) 170 W/Ch
8 ohm (Front) 115 W/Ch
Any input would be greatly appreciated. I want so much to love these speakers and serve them justice! -
You need an external amp. If your budget is really tight, check out Adcom."He who fights with monsters should look to it that he himself does not become a monster. And when you gaze long into an abyss the abyss also gazes into you." Friedrich Nietzsche
